It was in a leaked Japanese carrier brochure that we were first given semi-official confirmation of the existence of the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini (revealed as the “Z1 f” for Japanese markets). Today, NTT DoCoMo’s 2013 winter – 2014 spring brochure has been making the rounds and another interesting device has made an appearance. Say hello to the Samsung Galaxy J.
Samsung has never been short on device variants, and the Samsung Galaxy J appears to be a souped up version of the Samsung Galaxy S4, only for Japan. The J features a colored (or standard metallic) frame with matching home button giving the device a fun new look. The device also has a much more rectangular, boxy look to it, which — from the front of the device — almost looks like a Samsung version of the iPhone 5c.
The Samsung Galaxy J will allegedly come in 3 colors: Coral Pink, Satin White, and Lapis Blue but it’s the J’s guts that we found most interesting. When pitted against the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy J sounds more like a full fledged smartphone sequel, than a simple regional variant. Most notable specs include:
- Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 2.3Ghz quad-core
- 5-inch display, 1920 x 1080 Full HD
- 3GB of RAM
Of course, there was nothing about the device launching anywhere outside of Japan at the moment, but NTT DoCoMo has an official reveal ticking down on their site, set for about 2 days from now. We can’t help but wonder if this is preview of of changes Samsung might introduce with next year’s Samsung Galaxy S5. Also unconfirmed was a 3,000mAh battery from another blog, but we’ll need to see the actual leaked brochure before adding it to the spec sheet.
bizarre….
Go away nobody like you
Samsung please take a chill pill, every week it’s something new.
wtf lol.. japan deserves some lovin too
That’s their strategy. Flood the market and see what sticks. :(
But hey, it’s working for them.
yeah it sticks cause they make the best phones.
They’re going to experience the Starbucks effect real soon.
This would probably have 4GB of memory, if not for the lack of 64bit ARM cpu. Clearly we need the next Krait.
What on earth would you need 4GB for on android just yet? I’m not saying I wouldn’t like it, in just saying why?
4GB of RAM is still addressable by 32bit OS. Mind you that some of that will need to allocated for hardware use so let’s say roughly 3.5 would be usable.
Is it viable to add 4GB, hmm debatable but probably not.
3000+mah batteries need to become standard. With phones like the Maxx line from Moto having large batteries, and still being very thin, I see no reason to not make a phone with a 4000+mah battery, and make it 10mm thick, which is still very reasonably thin IMO.
My Uncle Ryan recently got a nearly new silver Volvo C30 by working part time off of a home computer… go to this web-site jump85.com
I like bigger batteries but it is not the only way to ditch a charge. Newer CPU’s are also getting pretty efficient compared 3 years ago. The OS also has to be efficient and of course, the devs write their codes also is as important in prolonging battery life.
Cranberry, Lime & Blueberry
If they make this, bring it to the US, make it in black, I would buy it in a heartbeat!
“Galaxy J” LOL, sounds like one of them Knock off phones on amazon
Why not USA Samsung?
In the USA, releasing a light red phone as “coral pink” would immediately remove half the potential market. In Japan, that wacky, wonderful country, it appears to be a benefit. Which reminds me — a friend just told me an uncut version of “Legend of the Ovefiend” just hit YouTube…
This is most likely to combat the popular HTC Butterfly J in the Asian markets
So 3 GB is now the new standard
It will be after this holiday season I’m guessing. Why all of these manufacturers wait for Samsung to do it first is beyond me.
Ask Google about their Nexus 5
Yeah let’s hope it has 3GB, else I’ll be taking a long hard look at the Note 3.
Strange this is what GN3 should have been lol
Why would the note line go back in screen size. At the very least they would keep it the same as last years. Also this doesn’t have an s pen. These are the same specs as the note 3 but smaller, the note line was never meant to be small though. So what you mean to say is you want the specs of the note line but in a smaller screened device. Lol
Well bigger screen
Lets just brag about $800 phones. PUKE
I like Samsung and their Android phones, but I would like to see them slow down with releasing so many devices and start working on things like battery life. I think that this could be a huge thing to advertise on over competitors!
