It was in a leaked Japanese carrier brochure that we were first given semi-official confirmation of the existence of the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini (revealed as the “Z1 f” for Japanese markets). Today, NTT DoCoMo’s 2013 winter – 2014 spring brochure has been making the rounds and another interesting device has made an appearance. Say hello to the Samsung Galaxy J.
Samsung has never been short on device variants, and the Samsung Galaxy J appears to be a souped up version of the Samsung Galaxy S4, only for Japan. The J features a colored (or standard metallic) frame with matching home button giving the device a fun new look. The device also has a much more rectangular, boxy look to it, which — from the front of the device — almost looks like a Samsung version of the iPhone 5c.
The Samsung Galaxy J will allegedly come in 3 colors: Coral Pink, Satin White, and Lapis Blue but it’s the J’s guts that we found most interesting. When pitted against the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy J sounds more like a full fledged smartphone sequel, than a simple regional variant. Most notable specs include:
Of course, there was nothing about the device launching anywhere outside of Japan at the moment, but NTT DoCoMo has an official reveal ticking down on their site, set for about 2 days from now. We can’t help but wonder if this is preview of of changes Samsung might introduce with next year’s Samsung Galaxy S5. Also unconfirmed was a 3,000mAh battery from another blog, but we’ll need to see the actual leaked brochure before adding it to the spec sheet.
