Affordable phones may not be the most exciting for us technology fans, but we must accept that these are a significant reason why Android has become so popular. Our favorite operating system is the most popular because it is highly accessible. Those looking for an affordable phone on T-Mobile will soon have another option – the Samsung Galaxy Light.
This modest device features some pretty nice specs for a budget device:

- 1.4 GHz quad-core processor
- 1 GB of RAM
- 5 MP / VGA
- 1800 mAh battery
Not bad at all, but we will have to wait a bit to see if the device is worth the cash. Pricing details have not been announced, and the release date is also unknown. All in all it’s a very well-balanced device, though. It has a lackluster display, but Android 4.2.2 and that quad-core processor should help keep it relatively speedy.
T-Mobile also didn’t fail to remind us about the two Alcatel phones they announced last months. The Alcatel ONE TOUCH Fierce and ONE TOUCH Evolve are great affordable options, too. A perfectly acceptable phone for people who aren’t in the practice of perusing techy Android pages. If it is priced like it’s predecessor on TMo, it will be something around $240 off contract, not bad if you don’t want a big screen phone.
Android 4.2.2 for this but not for the Galaxy S3? Are you okay samsung?
Samsung is skipping 4.2.2 for phones and giving you S3 users 4.3? Carriers are the ones that are the biggest roadblocks to updates.
Thats what ive heard, but its still not here and 4.4 is on its way, i reckon samsung will stop at 4.3 for the S3 users

I wouldn’t worry, it’s still early in the 4.3 game. Even the S4 doesn’t have it yet.
I would disagree. 4.4 is being designed to run on various hardware platforms and the S3 is very versatile with a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor and 2GB of RAM. Samsung put Jellybean on antiquated devices like the S2 earlier this year, and the device is what 1.5-2 yrs old? And the XDA forums will have support for phones for awhile longer. S3 -> S5 is a good gap time. Getting the HTC One from my Note II, although didn’t cost me extra too much ($50 really), and it is a good upgrade, but not groundbreaking. I love Beats Audio and Boom Sound, but you hardly notice the difference between the screen quality. It’s just better details mainly.
Edgar, I think you should update this article because I found out the Galaxy Light has LTE on it. That was because I just did a quick Google search just out of curiosity. That’s just my two cents on that. The phone is a decent budget phone for those who don’t want the whole Pure Google experience or don’t want to spend too much on a phone. Samsung makes good software, so I am sure their budget phone should be optimized to run well. 1.4 Quad Core Processor is a decent one seeing as those Snapdragon 400s can be stuffed into devices without having exorbitant costs. The screen is okay, but I hope they can offer those nice TW features to the budget users. Too bad Google sold out the Nexus 4’s at $200 though, that was a terrific deal for people.
This is probably the most legit “mini” around. Galaxy S3 innards on a 4 inch WVGA screen is just crazy. Its perfect for those who want small phones but are turned off at how low-specced they are.
Why the quad core with the rest of those specs? lol

I guess the lack of LTE was hurting sales of the T599. Otherwise I don’t think people care about an extra 0.2 inches of screen, a slightly faster processor, and NFC capability. Not that I’m complaining about the additions of course. This sounds like a top contender for my next phone.
