CONTEST: Google Glass for one lucky Android Developer! [DAY 6]

19

android-codeDevelopers, developers, developers. They’re what makes the technology world go ’round and they’re what’s made Android the most fantastic mobile operating system on the planet. Without the amazing developer community – from indie devs plucking away keys in their basement to the devs at startups and newly enshrined fortune 500 companies writing line after line in the valley – Android would be nothing without them. And let’s not forget the amazing rooting and modding community.

This next Google Glass invite goes to one of these developers. If you’re one of them, thanks for everything you’ve done! We know that only one developer will be rewarded with a Glass Invite but we hope in some small way this illustrates our appreciation to the development community. And if you have a particular fondness for a developer, feel free to nominate them in the comments. It’s really easy.

And oh yeah… keep in mind our Photoshop Contest is still open!

Day 6 Contest: Developer Appreciation!

The only way you can win our Day 6 contest is to have an app on the Google Play Store. Here’s how it goes:

  • Enter yourself or nominate an Android developer by commenting on this article with a link to one of their apps in the Google Play Store
  • Tell the Phandroid community why you’re entering and/or nominating another developer. Do you love their app or game? How do they help push the Android community forward?
  • Entries will be accepted until November 6th, 2013 at 11:59pm Eastern
  • We’ll randomly select one entry from among our favorites to win the Google Glass Invite
  • Winner will be announced on November 7th, 2013 on Phandroid.com
  • Winner will be contacted through the contact information provided in their Google Play Store account
  • Winner may NOT provide an alternate e-mail address to submit for Google Glass invite unless otherwise noted or agreed upon by Phandroid staff

If you cannot afford $1,500 for Google Glass or are an International Participant you are still eligible. In the event you win, we’ll substitute the Glass Invite with a $50 Google Play Gift Card and donate your invite to one random Android Forums member from this thread.

  1. I’d like to nominate Two Forty Four AM, the makers of locale. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.twofortyfouram.locale

This was the first ever app that I paid for, and it’s been well worth it. It will always be the first program that I download onto any new phone. I really can’t say enough about how much it makes my life easier, and I’m not even a “poweruser” with it.

Hats off to Phandroid for giving the development community an exclusive opportunity at an invite…Kudos!

    1. Nice nomination! Not only was this one of the first apps you ever paid for… it was also one of the FIRST EVER Android Apps!

I wrote about them way back in 2008 when they were Top 50 in the Android Developer Challenge (ADC): http://ydfgg.com/2008/05/10/adc-round-1-winners/

And featured them in the Android Rap Song (2:35)!

Well, I would like to get that Google Glass invite. Pitty it’s not for international developers….

      2. Oh hell morning goldmine.

    2. Ah yes, locale. I was so nerdy I had a proximity setup so when I pulled in my driveway after getting home from work it would turn on my lights. I need to test this app again!

    1. Nice app, Fabio! Thanks for your contributions to the Android community of course for entering the contest!

      1. Thank you, through the app we can makes life’s better so great power great responsibilities… ;)

  2. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.virtualmanila.apps.pstreader
Made this app for a friend of mine who just converted to Android (from Symbian!!) and was looking for a PST file reader but couldn’t find one in the app store.

  3. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andymc.derivative

This is the first app I ever made, about 4 years old now. Been an Android developer for a long time now. Since then, I’ve worked on TuneWiki and Hall.com

I’d be thrilled to build something for Google Glass. While at TuneWiki, I would have made an app that could scroll lyrics while you were listening to music right in your glass. At Hall, I would throw your live communication up there. There’s tons of services that could be integrated, and I’m sure I’ll make something great once I’ve gotten a chance to tinker.

  4. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dancadar.mobile.hitampfree
Pff, by mistake I’ve added my app as a reply to another comment….

  5. I’m too young to enter but good luck everyone!

  6. I’m having fun just checking out all of the apps that developers are posting. Good work guys!

  7. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.cf3d I’m nominating chainfire. He has done so much for the android community. I mentioned this app because it let me play tegra exclusive games on my galaxy s ll back in the day which was epic.

  8. Entering snrb labs. We developed GrooVe IP (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gvoip&hl=en). GrooVe IP allows making and receiving VoIP calls through Google Voice. We were the first to release an app with that functionality on Android.

Entering because we want to develop Google Glass apps and haven’t been able to get a hold of a pair yet.

  9. Would love an invite

  10. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.texty.sms Mighty Text. I can send, read, and reply to texts without picking up my phone which is really nice when working.

  11. Good luck to all the developers! Know of anyone looking for careers in mobile?
