A couple of America’s biggest GSM carriers have announced some new 4G LTE launches today. I’m talking about T-Mobile and AT&T, the two parties who have been at war with each other ever since their failed attempt at merging. For the former — magenta — we’re 14 new launches around the country, while Ma Bell’s 26 rounds out their CES launch parade. Be sure to read ahead for the full list of cities for both:

Whew, those are some long lists. AT&T recently surpassed a sizable list of 500 markets covered in 4G LTE, while T-Mobile is making good time on catching up to the big boys. T-Mobile shouldn’t have many problems, though, with the carrier boasting that 2014 will be one to behold for those who enjoy seeing a network grow and grow and grow. Let us know if your city finally made the cut for either of these carriers.
Olympia, WA has had T-Mobile LTE for a while now. I’ve been in this area for about 3 months and I’ve been on and off LTE the entire time. You can tell the network is new because you’ll have LTE one second then down to “4G” (HSPA+) then back to LTE 10 minutes later without moving.
and the good news is the HSPA+ is faster than verizon LTE
Does anyone know if T-Mobile plans on switching its entire 2G network to 4G/LTE/HSPA+? There are a lot of areas in rural places that have t-mobile 2G/Edge that if they were switched over to LTE it would be an amazing network and truly give AT&T and Verizon a run for their money.
Ultimately the way it is going is they are only upgrading their networks to LTE, barely any HSPA+. I have some friends in 2g areas that were bumped straight to LTE, though they probably backed it up with HSPA+ to allow for data in phone calls.
if they plan to switch over to VoLTE that would make a lot of sense. and I heard that they eventually will have to upgrade them because the edge network has been around for about 10 years so they have to upgrade because eventually it will break down, and I think tmo doesn’t put up any more edge towers;) I got let at my house a couple days ago in Utah(only 1 or 2 bars atm, but still a great start)
They all will be switching to this, Verizon is preparing for the raping of many when it comes into effect .
Funny you mention Utah. I’m actually asking because I have family in Idaho and Northern Utah and when I visit them I only have edge network. I have a work tablet with Verizon’s LTE and I have great service in the area. My personal phone is on T-Mobile but when I’m there I have to tether to my tablet.

That’s not true. I already get LTE everywhere I go in Detroit Metro Suburbs, but now
it’ll be even better. Not only are we already one of the Markets
T-Mobile has some of the most spectrum in, the new 700mHZ spectrum
covers almost our entire state
Check the rest of the state its like it doesn’t exist on the t-mobile coverage map LOL. Detroit is an exception to my comment and I did say most of michigan but not the most heavily populated area aka detroit.
All of the surrounding “Major” suburbs like Livonia, Ann Arbor, Novi, etc…. All have spectacular coverage, all those cities “are” Most of Michigan. T-Mobile isn’t interested in remote areas where hardly any people live like up North near my cabin. And that’s Perfectly acceptable, they want to focus on areas they get the most bang for their buck. Anyways even in “remote” middle of nowhere cities, you still get service.
