What better way to show someone why they should buy a phone than to show them what they could do on that phone… on their current phone. It’s something Samsung has done with a few devices as of late, and they’re doing it again for the Samsung Galaxy S5.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Experience app is now available for download in the Google Play Store, and it’ll give you a narrow peak into the world of Samsung. The app will show you what’s so great about the phone’s camera, how it can help you with your fitness and health, how you can use it to enhance your life, and how it all connects with the latest Samsung Gear watches.
All of that is to say it’s a pretty interesting advertisement wrapped up into a nice app for you to check out. It’s available for anyone and everyone to download, so give it a quick look if you feel like being advertised to this morning.
They already persuaded people NOT to buy their phone by introduced a lame incremental upgrade GS5, LOL. I was waiting for GS5 long time ago so I can replace my GS3, but now I’m keeping my GS3 for a little longer.
Lame incremental? Every flagship has been an incremental improvement. Look at the Z2, the new HTC one, the iphone, etc. Geeks are disappointed that their personal fantasies are not realistic.
Well said lol, I think eventually it’s gonna get old and when sales start slipping maybe phones will come out every other year and will actually feel like a ” significant upgrade ”
My secret to success? Go in with low expectations and let yourself be suprised and not buy into all these fanboy concept videos and mockups :p
I mean really what do people expect? To go from the s4 to an s5 with hologram projections and cancer curing radio waves?
I think people would have been satisfied with a 2k display and a s805(maybe) and 3gb ram. Doesn’t sound too unrealistic to me
There’s actually a lot of changes that went into the SnapDragon 801, regardless, you’ll need a bigger battery for that 2K display
you can save your holograms and radio waves…. most people just wanted an S5 with a great design and a much better Touchwiz
Samsung sadly did not deliver
Yup! Incremental updates are more fair to the consumer in my view. Imagine if you bought the S4 within the first couple months of its release then the S5 is reveled with radical new updates. You’d feel cheated no?
really? I’m not a huge touch whiz guy but the gs5 is leap and bounds ahead of the gs3…. significantly more powerful and efficient chip, usb 3.0 for significantly faster charging, water and dust resistant, much better camera, significantly larger battery, and an allegedly a more slim downed version of touchwhiz…
Not exactly sure what else you would need that would qualify to your standards.
I’m also holding unto my GS3..I used to be a Specs Whore..but Android has advanced so much that those little boosts in performance are not game changing.. I’m content with this dual core phone. Now I am about aesthetics. I love the way the S3 feels in my hand and how I can reach about 90% of the screen with one hand…If LG can do with the G3 what they did with the G2..G3 #nextdevice
I’m the last one to actually like Touchwiz but the S5 is a superior phone in every way to the S3, that’s a nice update over the S3. I think u need to lay off crack sir.
Well if he’s comparing it to the g2 which has been out for around 6 months, it’s pretty disappointing that the specs are very close to the same, and yet with much more bezel imo
drastic changes almost never happen in a 6 month period. People typically don’t upgrade every 6 months. I would like the g2 as well, but the s5 definitely has quite a few advantages.
If you call gimmicks and bloat “advantages”. And the only reason I would pick the s5 over the g2 is removable battery and storage. Oh, and they definitely have the advantage in marketing
I don’t even personally care about removable battery and expandable storage but yes those are 2 advantages. Water resistance and most probably a superior camera and USB 3.0 are also 3 other advantages. I’m not saying one would be foolish to take one or the other they are/will both be excellent phones. And there are some pros in some of these new phones that the ones released 6 months ago don’t have.
Just because a phone has gimmicks doesn’t mean everything else is useless. I tell the same thing to HTC haters. Yes you might not care about the design of your phone or front facing speakers but the phone can still do everything all the other phones have, stop acting like all it is is a texting machine with speakers.
Should having less than 8gb available on a 16gb phone also be an advantage of bloat? Not bashing people who like it, just what I think. F-ck my opinion, if you want to buy it, then buy it. Most of the opinions seem gimmicky to me but if they are important to you, then that’s great.
no that’s not an advantage… but i never said the phone was perfect, nor did i say there were disadvantages to touchwhiz… i simply said advantages exists.
Every phone has its pro’s and con’s but some people act like because something has one or two cons then it automatically has zero pro’s.
I have a Nexus 4, and its cool and all but i’m not upgrading to an Nexus 5, i’m upgrading to either the LG G2, HTC m8, or Xperia z2, Why? Because each of those phones offer a couple advantages the nexus 5 does not. Are they lacking in a few categories that the Nexus might excel in? of course.
I just think people throw the word gimmick around a little too loosely. Like when iphone users used to call 4G a gimmick before they got it.
That was just isheep defending apple because they failed to bring 4g. And I never said it doesn’t have any pros, just meant that the cons outweighed the cons for my needs. If it had the “features” you want, then go out and get it. Plain and simple. And I don’t blame you, nexus 5 battery life is meh
S3 to the S5 is a logical upgrade.
Well, it’s not an incremental upgrade from my GNex or my wife’s Stratosphere :)
No sensible person upgrades from year to year, so the apparent big jumps are always in the two year range. Obviously the S3 to S5 is a big jump. But the longer you wait, the bigger the jump will be, as has always been the case.
If you needed to buy a phone right at the release date of the GS5, it’ll be the best phone on the market technically. If you can wait until the HTC One, that’ll probably be the best. If you can wait until the the LG G3, that’ll be the best. If you can wait for the next Nexus, and you’re not on Verizon, that’ll be the best.
It’s the same pattern, year after year. As is the claim that the latest version of a given model of phone, is insufficiently updated from the previous year.
We’ve waited for 5 months since our contracts expired, because we didn’t already want a phone with six month old tech, and Verizon didn’t get the Nexus 5. Our phones are dinosaurs. This phone’s arrival is as long as we’re waiting. And yes, it’ll be topped with whatever phone comes out next. The S5 will be as much phone as we could possibly use.
Make a play version and I might consider it.
Lg G3 nigga.
:)
ROFL
Had to borrow that image from an article I originally made it for months ago:
http://ydfgg.com/2013/07/17/lg-g2-name-confirmed-future-devices-carry-g-branding/
Meh, it’s just a colorful brochure, nothing more
Meh all I see is more bloat ware
Bloatware will only sway me away. Sorry Sammy.
Anyone read the cheesy reviews of this app?
You don’t think SAMSUNG would actually………..
I think it’s pretty obvious that they have!
I’m concerned Phandroid is becoming “Phamsung” lately.
Just wait until next week. Tuesday of next week to be more specific.
Why’s that?
HTC One (2014) event. Will be a sh*t ton of One related news that day.
Come on… you could at least give us a metric f*ckton of coverage! :p
Chris, don’t worry lol. If userbase means anything, i’d say it’s better for the website. Besides, Samsung makes the most news and products so it makes sense they get the most coverage. Keep up the good work!
Bleh. :p Only thing “new” about the All New One is the camera… Maybe I’m just bitter.
Let me guess, you want them to become ShitHTC?
Oooh, clever. Not.
Given my personal track record with Samsung.
Day 1: Buy defective NExus 10
Week 2: Trying to get warranty repair
Week 4: Get it back, still defective
Week 6: Trying to get repair, they try to charge me out of warranty repair
Week 8: Still defective after getting it back
Week 10: 2 hour argument with Samsung during which they try to pass it off to Google
Week 12: Get it back, still have defective multitouch, but power issue resolved. Give up, call it “working”.
No, I’d rather see fair coverage of all brands, but the headlines for Samsung seem to even include “Samsung S5 includes new way to wipe your butt”. Seriously, I get it, we love the Galaxy brand and its advertisements, but including every variation of its ad campaign is nothing short of ridiculous.
You kind of got that wrong. It’s sHiTC.
We are all Android here! No need for drawing lines in the sand. Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony and now Nokia. We’re all good! :p
I agree, but it feels rather one-sided as of late.
you mean despite every single HTC M8 rumor being posted?
I should have been more specific. The language used in some of the articles, like this one, are very pro-“Go get your Galaxy on”. I just don’t feel like its very neutral (btw, it’s been two HTC M8 articles to about 5 Galaxy S5 articles). HOnestly, I’m a bit burnt out on news focusing on the m8 and the Galaxy S5, since neither, aside from a camera and a handful of other items, really brings anything new to the table.
Popular news items will be discussed often. It’s just a normal thing not anything really biased. Some tech outlets are quite guilty of leaning towards one company while claiming neutrality. Phandroid isn’t one of them.
S5’s the new kid on the block and Samsung’s pumping out new products often so it’s only natural to cover this stuff. When Sony, LG or anyone else starts making a lot of splashes I’m certain Phandroid will be all over that as well.
I can understand feeling “burnt out” on certain subjects. Just move along and read other articles my friend. Plenty of other Android news/gossip to go around. ;)
Will you be complaining next week with all the M8 articles?
People like Android because it plays nice across manufacturers. Manufacturers want to be proprietary. Android is supposed to be a neutralizer in this conflict. Next to Kindles Samsung does the best job in making things proprietary. Unfortunately they do decent compelling job in the process. Bloatware used to be a factor but with 3GB of memory it doesn’t hurt performance like it did in the early days.
Yeah I’m going to have to call bull sh!t on that one. I have a Note 10.1 2014 that has enough memory to run android perfectly fine, but that mofo lags like there’s no tomorrow. Look on XDA once and tell me why there’s so many threads about people wanting to remove bloat from Sammy phones. Android is about choice, and Samsung doesn’t give you any kind of choice with their devices. My Note is the last device I purchase from them.
I don’t get that. How do they not give you choice by not letting you remove something? I thought it was more related to you’re not forced to use one type of skin. Like you get an iPhone and what you see is what you get, it won’t be different across the iPhone, but with Android you get 2 different Android phones and there’s a difference. You have a choice.
That’s how I’ve always seen it, at least.
Which version do you have? Snapdragon or Octo-core?
I haven’t heard anything bad from the snapdragon version yet.
So you don’t the 16gb version having less than 8gb for storage? You can blame bloat for that
is the app as bloated as touchwiz?
All I’ve ever seen with Samsung stuff is fitness. I don’t care for fitness. Well, when keeping track of it.
I don’t workout to see results, but to just stay healthy. If that’s all there is to Samsung nowadays, then they’re not getting me. LoL!!
Samsung already made up my mind for me when they announced this thing. I’m getting the new HTC One. Or maybe just do an insurance claim and get a new GS3 to give me more time to decide, especially now that I just found out KitKat doesn’t allow you to interact with your SD card even if the phone comes with the slot (WTF!). But yeah, not enough of a software upgrade for me to justify getting an uglier version of what I have.
If anything I think this app will push me further away. Reminds me of the terrible Microsoft experience app.
I still think my note 3 is superior even with the s5 being newer
Throlling to the MAX … LOL
Well done Samsung
This app made my phone get cancer. Thats how some people are making it sound in the comments. lol. I love this site.
