Another Samsung phone has found its way into the spotlight just ahead of the Galaxy S5’s availability. Samsung saw fit to announce the Samsung Galaxy Ace Style, and as we’ve come to expect from any new phone in the Ace series, this one doesn’t do much to stimulate us. Specs read out as follows:
- 4-inch WVGA display
- 1.2GHz dual-core processor
- 512MB of RAM
- 4GB of internal storage with microSD up to 64GB
- 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera
- Bluetooth 4.0, WiFI N and NFC
- 1,500mAh battery
- Android 4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz Essence
That just about does it. No fancy bells and whistles. No unique additions to TouchWiz (in fact, you can say it’s been a bit stripped down). Samsung this thing features a “fun, unique design,” though we can’t help but to yawn at its presence.
It’s not ugly, per se, it’s just not… exciting or new. It’s a typical entry-level phone, and one that likely won’t be breaking your wallet. It should be making its way to retail in Dark Gray and Cream White later this month.

TFT Display, 512MB Ram, Touchwiz, 4GB internal Memory and Touchwiz… that will leave 500MB for your apps. yay! congrats!
What is the price point?
Just go ahead and buy a Moto G or ASUS ZenPhone. Both would be a better choice.

Why would anyone buy this instead of the Moto G? It’s not like its going to be any cheaper…in fact it’s probably going to be more expensive.
SD Card is the only reason I can think of,provided it’s in the same price range as the MOTO G.
I guess, but the Moto G has a MUCH better UI and it’s almost guaranteed to be faster. For people buying a phone in this price range, 16gb is probably enough. It’s enough for me.

Agreed. These specs make the phone look like an SGS2, only with a smaller screen and a smaller battery. But you get KitKat… some consolation, I guess.
Remember a couple of years ago when everyone was blaming the “demise” of HTC on them churning out under powered, under specced pieces of crummy mediocrity and worse?
What is different about Samsung? As fas as I can tell they have a couple of high end devices in the Galaxy S and Note series and many many more pieces of turd like this one, riding on the popularity and awareness of the Galaxy brand, yet they are still the biggest manufacturer in the world and appear to be avoiding the problems that HTC got themselves into.
What am I missing?
PS: The new Phandroid app sucks. I’ve had to come to my desk top PC to post this as every time I try to post a comment the app crashes on my Nexus 5. It also doesn’t refresh properly to get the latest stories (I have to force refresh 2 or 3 times to make sure it has got everything!). Rant over, but please please sort it out!
You bring up two very good points. Maybe it’s just the marketing that Samsung does. I have a Galaxy S3 (and before the haters start giving me trouble about it being 2 years old: eat a cyanide capsule and die if you’re going to hate just because of that). It has an error message at times when I attempt to post comments and it crashes after I share an article to a different app and attempt to return to the Phandroid app.
I do not think that is a competitor for the Moto G
