It’s probably not the strongest of “leaks” we’ve seen, but a Brazilian retailer has posted what they believe are some of the hardware specs from the upcoming Motorola Moto X+1. A phone still shrouded in mystery, Motorola’s done a pretty good job at keeping this thing under wraps. But as we saw back with Moto E, for whatever reason Brazil seems to get the scoops on Motorola devices.
The phone’s listing page — which is still very much “under construction” — actually has notes for the webmaster to go in and add additional information that reads, “Write a description as shipped by the manufacturer in email 45789.” It then goes on to list the following specs:
- 5.2-inch 1080p display
- Android 4.4.4 KitKat
- Snapdragon 800 processor
- 12MP rear / 5MP front facing cameras
- 32GB internal storage (with micro SD card slot up to 128GB)
- 2GB RAM
- 2,900mAh battery (26 hours of mixed usage)
- Water resistance
The biggest question is whether they got the information through official sources, or just made their best guess. Given they’re a book store that also sells electronics, your guess is as good as ours. When it comes to leaks and rumors, we’re taking this one with the biggest grains of salt.
Its actually 5.2″ not 5.5. But I wish it was 5.5 as I think that is the perfect size for a screen.
5.7″ with virtual buttons and ultra narrow bezel would do it for me, along with a Maxx-size battery and Qi wirelwss charging. All of the other specs are fine by me.
If I’m going to be carrying around a 5.7 inch phone it better have top end specs, but I won’t be, unless that’s all there is to buy.

Not true necessarily a 5.2 in a lot of cases can drain faster than 5.5
I wonder if it will be an x8 using the snap dragon. It seems if the listening core on the Qualcomm doesn’t work as well as demonstrated on the one plus one. Hopefully they keep the trend of using Motorola’s listening core because it’s solid.
I think that comes down to shoddy software, I have faith Motorola will properly utilize it.

Well there was the moto x, g, and e but whatever.
They weren’t built with an official water resistance rating though were they.
Are you talking about not having an ip rating? That’s true they weren’t but they were advertised as having a P2i coating which is very effective, I bought a moto g as a running companion, so I didn’t damage my nexus 5. I’m 99%sure this will have a P2i coating as well, if it were ip67 they’d adverse l advertise it, on the other moto handsets they also advertise it as being water resistant.
I think I’d rather buy last year’s G2 over this.

why? Odds are the camera on the G2 is probably better, and it’ll be cheaper the buy than this at launch.
There’s more to a camera than megapixels, g2 won’t get that many more updates, moto is good with updates, optimus ui is fairly bloated, unlike moto’s near stock android, I’m pretty sure this will be around $400 g2 has been selling for $350ish. This has an SD card slot, water resistance, faster updates and the speed benefits of stock android.

Well this would be in line with what they did last year. The moto x didn’t have the best specs either.
From the looks of it it’s quite similar to other flagships other than the snapdragon 800 it’s almost spec for spec the same as the s5 , has a bigger battery, larger screen, more base internal storage, and it’s not like the 801 is that much better than the 800 it’s a rather miniscule jump.
That’s true but can you really get excited for a phone rumoured to have the same specs as a flagship from a year ago like the G2?
When it stacks up this well against the current crop of flagships yes. And specs don’t tell the whole story, at this point it’s all about optimization, most manufacturers have very similar hardware, having high end hardware, coupled with stock android result in unrivaled speed. Phones have gotten good enough that flagships don’t need bleeding edge specs in every single category to be considered a flagship, hell even midrangers are starting to offer fantastic performance.

Other than the cameras and SD slot, those specs are IDENTICAL to the G2.
Amoled screen, slightly smaller battery, water resistance. Not identical, plus moto optimizations.

Everything is getting bigger, the honey hole is 5.0 to 5.5 anymore. It’ll be hard to find a phone under 5.0, even the IPhone is coming with a 4.7 and a 5.5 phones this year
Actually… 5.2 is not big..if you recall the bezels on the original moto X….they may pull off a LG G2
Except the LG G2 is much bigger than the moto x, which is why I got the X over the more powerful G2
If the price is right, I may bite. I imagine that the memory is up to 32GB and not just 32GB. That would be a first i belive.

You don’t like that the option for expansion could potentially exist? Any particular reason why?
From my own experience and from what I know, SD cards decrease Android experience. Make your phone slower, drive your phone crazy if you remove it while you have some important files in it. Some people say that android is buggy because of this. And SD card are expensive if you want a good one that is as fast as the one built in the phone.
Fair enough. I myself don’t use an SD card for much other than deeper storage of photos and what not (mine is pretty slow in it’s current state). Was just curious on the details of why you were opposed. Appreciate the response.
And that’s fine that you won’t use the slot! But whats wrong with just adding a micro SD slot for people who want to use it, while you can happily ignore its exsistance? Its not like the phone suddenly becomes worse if it has a mico SD slot..
As you can read above, if I take the phone, I won’t use the slot. That means that if people want to use it, that is good for them. If I don’t want to use it, I won’t use it! That is an OPTION (means no obligation) I will happily IGNORE. I didn’t judged anybody for using an SD card.

I skipped the Moto X because they delayed the phone for so long to bring it to the UK. However, I’m hoping they don’t make the same mistake with the X+1. I also hope that whatever chip they use, the always listening feature is as good or better than the X.
