As shipments for the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live start to arrive this week, new smartwatch owners are going to be chomping at the bit to get the most out of Android Wear. We’re going to add Wear Aware to our upcoming list of must have applications for your wrist.
Wear Aware acts as a smartphone leash, notifying you whenever your phone gets out of range and loses Bluetooth connectivity. When this occurs, your wrist will immediately begin vibrating, buzzing, and the display on your smartwatch will turn bright red letting you know that you forgot your precious phone. This is the very first release of the app, so expect bugs and there’s also bound to be room for improvement.
It’s worth mentioning that this functionality isn’t meant to replace Google’s Android Device Manager for finding lost phones. If you’re in the habit of walking away from your phone or leaving your phone behind as you go about your day, this app is for you.

Well current smart watches have that already… not impressed
This is just one app in an ecosystem with a billion apps that just work out of the box. This app might not impress you, but the rest of Android Wear should. Hopefully I’ll get me review up tomorrow. Damn you free time!
Its better than the default “Bluetooth out of range”… Good idea
It would be nice if it could ring the phone too. Help you find it if you’re not sure where you left it.
So you’d like your phone to ring as soon as the Bluetooth connection drops too? There would be no way to make your phone ring from your watch after the connection drops on it’s own. The watches do not have a WiFi connection and cannot control actions on the phone once Bluetooth drops.

Um, no. I’d like the ability to ring the phone once back in range of it. So if you’re having trouble finding it (like maybe it’s in someone’s pocket, under the table or in a cushion) you can ring it.
Push a button when in range, make the phone ring. Simple but exceptionally useful. Would fit in with the theme of the app nicely.
