After a soak test began last week for Android 4.4.4 on the Motorola Moto X, it seems Verizon is now comfortable enough to begin pushing it out to the masses. The 210.12.41 update has been officially approved by Verizon and besides the SSL security fixes addressed in Android 4.4.4, manages to bring a few smaller surprises to the mix. Here’s what Moto X users on Verizon can expect from the update:
CAMERA
• Improved camera picture quality
– Improved photos in fluorescent lighting
– Enhanced dynamic range
• Ability to pause video recording
– Offers pause/resume button on the finder
PHONE DIALER
• New graphical layout and colors
– Improves consistency and usability
For those that don’t want to wait around for Verizon to prompt them about the update, it can be pulled manually by jumping into your Settings app and selecting > About phone > System updates. If there’s nothing currently available, just check back the following days where it will continue rolling out in stages. Cheers.

Have they fixed the general subpar bluetooth synch issue? incompatibility with LG and general problem with linking with Toyota cars?
Camera. Phone/dialer.
O_o
It actually resolved the bluetooth volume issue. The volume rocker on the phone and the volume control on the bluetooth device are now separate and I don’t get the ear splitting volume. Still cannot do a simple phone pairing with my 2005 Prius.
I’ve never had an issue with mine linking to my 2013 FJ
My Verizon Moto X will only sync the phone audio in my 2012 Mustang. It does not sync Bluetooth media. I have unpaired, removed ALL devices from Sync in my car, and tried re-pairing multiple times. It just syncs the phone audio. My phone indicates that media are sync’d as well, but nope. Ford Sync is up to date in my car. I may remove the battery cable this weekend and see if I can completely reset everything.
Ugh. Come on, att.
Unless I’ve just had a defective product all along, the only update that I feel can upgrade/fix this camera is by nailing it to a Polaroid.Update: Just got the update pushed to me. Gotta hand it to Motorola, my camera is working waaayyy better and isn’t doing wacky things like flat out refusing to stay focused for more than a second. Good on them!
Moto X… getting the latest updates before the M8, the G3, the S5, the…
Yes! Finally!!
Camera is noticeably better in low light.
See my above ? abt the camera.. Perhaps you can answer while I am waiting.. :)
So how many of you got the update? I keep checking but I’m am still stuck on lame ass 4.4.2
I went to xda and someone posted the OTA zip.
Moto X is awesome… really hope Moto doesn’t screw up the next one. All it needs is an SoC refresh and better color calibration.
Although the camera is significantly better in 4.4.4., it could still use an upgrade as well. Other than that, you are spot on.
Is the camera really that much better on it?. Good enough that you don’t have to rely on an app to get the exposure right..? Probably not lol. Moto needs to change their whole app to include up and down exposure settings & a self timer. Thank God I found some good apps to work around this! Like Camera FV-5 is worth the money & I got a great deal on mine. Some money off from amazon because of the way the seller listed.. Otherwise I was thinking I was going to have to go back to the G. All because of the camera. It’s stock app most times when taking pictures with the flash in lower right cant seem to get it right most of the time. Guess I’ll see if it’s better with the update.
Interestingly Moto phones tend to have the highest radiation limits, coming close to the legally allowed limits for those who care about that kind of thing. Would bee nice if they did a better job with that this time around
You should be able to use “Motorola Alert” after the 4.4.4 upgrade. :)
