If the state of Verizon’s now active “DroidLanding” Twitter account is any indication (that, and a variety of recent leaks), we’d be willing to bet Motorola and Big Red are gearing up to announce a shiny new DROID phone in the coming weeks.
Rumored to launch as the “DROID Turbo,” we’ve already gotten a look at what the device may look like and although not the prettiest of Androids, the phone could carry some pretty impressive hardware under the hood. After rumors suggested as much, we’re seeing the device pop up again, this time in a GFXBench benchmark quoting specs like a 5.2-inch 2,560 x 1,440 display, Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB RAM, and a high resolution 20MP camera.
Unfortunately, there was no mention of battery capacity, although a recent FCC filing may have outed something along the lines of a 3,500mAh. Yeah, despite its arguably fugly looks, this sounds like it could be the one Android device to rule them all (at least, as far as raw horsepower and longevity are concerned).
It’s not uncommon for prototype or pre-production devices to make an appearance on the site, so this alleged Motorola Droid Turbo making an appearance really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. Still, there’s always the chance something like this could be faked, so take it with a grain of salt for now.
If a 3500mAh battery ended up in the not 6 inch nexus 6, I would be a happy man.

I am a fan of carbon fiber. I left my RAZR MAXX HD on my car roof and drove off. When I hit 35 mph on a local major road, i saw it fly off and go bouncing away. Fortunately it was not run over, and the only damage is a slight scuff on 2 of the corners. The scuffs are not really visible.
Hmm now that you mention it Lenovo uses carbon fiber chassis in ThinkPads, maybe now that they moto they’ll use even more carbon fiber
Carbon fiber is nice, but there’s no form on the back. Nothing special. Looks like a cheap $100 smartphone from the back. :/
Honestly, the day I get a phone it’s going into a case so I could care less what it looks like. I’ll express my style through the choice of case, it’s what’s inside the phone that counts.
This “could” be the runner up phone for me IF the Z3 compact does not come to VZW.

Perhaps the platform could be a basis for the rumored 5.2″ Nexus 6.
They’re also all Unlocked. Stick an AT&T SIM in it, and you’ll be just fine (as long as you’re good with HSPA+)
If it radiates the jollies like other Moto Droid phones do, I’d have to take a pass. Still holding out hope that Big Red gets the full size Z3 at the 10/09 announcement.

The Galaxy S5 and One (M8) each have microSD. It really isn’t too much to ask. I’m tired of streaming my music and having it cut out while driving.

It would be awesome if there was a Nexus based on this phone. I was waiting to see the Moto x and the Nexus, hoping one of them would be my next phone. Then the Moto X was not released on Sprint and the Nexus rumors are all pointing to a phablet. Now my only hope is there are multiple Nexus phones announced, otherwise I have no idea what to get.

yes, the LG G3 is the default runner up, but I’m a little concerned about the battery. The reports have been mixed, but in reality, it would probably be fine for my use case. I’ve always liked Samsung hardware, currently using and S3, but I don’t care for Touchwiz. I’ve been running CyanogenMod since a week after I got the phone, but I would like to get a phone with a the stock environment I like.

If the battery is removable I am going to be sad I went with LG g3 5.2 night be perfect size. But 19mp?! That’s wholly unnecessary, I’d rather bigger low light pixels at 13mp
