After hitting unlocked and Developer edition HTC One M8 a few weeks ago, HTC is wasting no times in pushing out their EYE Experience + Android 4.4.4 update on carrier branded models. Today, the update began rolling out for the T-Mobile version of the device, with HTC’s VP of Product Management Mo Versi tweeting earlier today that the update would hit the Verizon model as early as tomorrow. He even gave a specific time for the update: 12 noon (so be on the look out).
We had a feeling since the update wasn’t a major firmware update (and had more to do with the updating the camera software), HTC would have as many hurdles to jump in order to push it out. Looks like our suspicions may have been right. For more info on what to expect from the new HTC EYE Experience camera, check out the video below where it comes pre-loaded on the upcoming HTC Desire EYE.
Awesome.
Out of the 2014 flagships on T-Mobile, the HTC M8 is the cheapest…and I forgot where I was going with that…
You’re a creep.
How soon for the update on the GPEs ? I have a GPE M8 on T-Mobile.
For some reason, I have a feeling that they’re going to bundle it with Lollipop.
Maybe that’s just because Lollipop is all that’s on my mind lately…
Why would the GPE get it? It’s kind of a Sense-ish feature.
Crap! You’re right. Ok i feel silly now, thanks for the info.
Att needs to get on their horse and release it too
exactly… we still on 4.4.2 for crying out loud… smh
Since I downloaded the update yesterday, my 4G icon won’t shut off. When you have wifi on, the 4G should be off but it’s not. I even turned off the mobile data for a bit yesterday but the icon stayed on and I received a text during that time (which I didn’t think came over via wifi…and I have wifi calling disabled). TMO support is telling me to master reset my phone. Any thoughts?
Also, I live in Cincinnati, Ohio, which is band 2 and my M8 doesn’t pick up the LTE. TMO swears I should and, again, wants me to do a master reset. Any thoughts?
It appears I have to do a master reset to fix something?
Oh, TMO said if the reset doesn’t fix the LTE issue I can exchange the M8 for another under warranty as it should pick up the LTE.
my 4G LTE icon is also not disappearing after connecting to WiFi. I hope they send out a small update. I am not going to reset my phone.
Edit: my only issue is the icon only. everything works the way it’s supposed to but with an annoying 4g icon that won’t go away
I told HTC support so I’d like you to do the same, so they know they have a problem to patch.
I got the update but unless I am missing something the update took away a feature I liked. You could use both cameras at the same time and move the front facing camera window to any part of the screen you wanted for the photo or video. Now all you get is the far less aesthetic 1/2 of the screen for each camera. Booooooo
I can’t say I remember seeing that feature before the update.
It brought a bunch of gimmicky features many people will never use.
