This is not a drill! The official Android 5.0 Lollipop factory images are now available for the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012 & 2013 WiFi models), and Nexus 10. This means if you own these devices you can manually flash these images instead of waiting for the OTA update.
Google has a quick start guide to help you get acquainted with Lollipop. You might need it because there are tons of changes from KitKat to Lollipop. Check out this lengthy changelong. Let us know if you’re going to flash these images or wait for the OTA. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some flashing to do.

I don’t think it’s that easy due to the new security enhancements in Lollipop. I read we need a modified kernel.
Chainfire released the updated superuser earlier today for lollipop devices… Just do a google search for lollipop root and nexus it will show up

Will all the information and apps dissepear after the flash update?
Depends if you are required to do a factory reset.
If not, then you’re good.
I just tried the factory image (Nexus 5) and have run into an error:

Tried that doesn’t seem to work. Tried to update my Nexus 7 and now I can’t get it to work at all.
Same thing with N5, N7 flashed without issues though.
There’s an issue with WIndows where if you don’t have enough available memory on your computer, the update won’t work. Close everything and try again. If that doesn’t work then just reboot your computer. That worked for me when I got this same error.
How much memory does it need? I have 16GB of memory and was only using a 1/4 of that.
Here is what I did to flash it. I was on the 5.0 Preview. I went back to 4.4.4 factory image and set the phone back up. After this I turned the phone off and went back into fastboot mode. After this I ran the “flash-all.bat” script and it worked.
Why in God’s name don’t you guys publish a “How to Manually Update your Android from Factory Images” explainer every single time you post something like this. Gentlemen, it’s a no-brainer if you actually want to serve your readers.

Wait for OTA
Waiting for Cyanogenmod will take some time but it’ll be worth it.
Unfortunately it seems to be not working for those that were using the lollipop preview. I’m still considering if it worth to back to 4.4 and then try the lollipop or wait for more tests by other users. The message is the same hat our friends reported up there, but I already wipe factory and the error is the same.

I’m OTA’ing this one as well…always have! I’m gunna love me some 5.0 on my N5,but I’ve always been one to sit back and watch/listen/read on how an update is working before I commit! Hope everyone who’s flashing gets them issues sorted out! Good luck guys and gals…let us know if it’s a hit or still working like sh%t!!
I’ll wait awhile, a few apps might not work with 5.0, so I’d rather wait, also with lollipop it’s all ART right? I remember awhile ago titanium backup wasn’t ART compatible. But I really want to try out ART on my nexus 7(2012), I’ve heard it really helps with performance (But I want titanium back up)
If you are rooted, there is a working beta for Titanium Backup (6.2.0). The dev posted a link to it on his twitter a while back. I tested it earlier on my rooted Nexus 5 running Lollipop, it works just fine.
OTA for me. Pain in the butt to wait though.
OK, so, they’ve eliminated the AOSP email application and combined it into Gmail. That’s awesome, but why didn’t they remove the email application from my phone? Now I have 2 different shortcuts (email and Gmail) that both launch Gmail. Maybe they could have moved the email application from system to apps so I can uninstall it…
