We all know that one person, whether it’s a friend or family member who is constantly freaking out over their misplaced keys or smartphone. Back during the Moto X (2014) event, Motorola also unveiled a unique little product called the Power Pack Micro, a battery charger that doubled as a key/smartphone locator via Bluetooth.
Today, Motorola has unbundled that Bluetooth tracking function from the Power Power Micro and made it available as a tiny key FOB dubbed the Keylink. A spiritual successor to the Moto Skip, we actually got our first glimpse of the device back in August thanks to an FCC filing. The Keylink serves a variety of purposes. The first is and most obvious is beeping on your keys should you ever misplace them. It also works the other way around via the Motorola Connect app (compatible with most Android devices) to ring your smartphone if lost.
Our favorite? If you’re running Android 5.0 Lollipop you can take advantage of their new “trusted devices” feature to keep your phone or tablet unlocked while in proximity of this little device. Other Motorola Keylink features include:
- Compatible – Motorola Keylink pairs with any Android or iOS smartphone using the Motorola Connect app.
- Key/phone finder – Make your phone ring anywhere up to 100 feet away. Or use the app to see where your keys are on a map.
- Skip your password – Keeps your Motorola, Droid, or any Android 5.0 Lollipop smartphone unlocked when your keys are nearby—no need to enter a password.
- Splash-proof – Keylink can get a little wet
- Battery that lasts – Full year of battery life using a replaceable standard coin cell battery

Its not very big at all — take another look at that photo. Those are small keys — a padlock key and a desk drawer key.
Nice, would like one but for as little as I would need it, $25 seems a bit much.
If you’re only using it to find your lost keys or phone, maybe (unless it happens to you a lot!), but it’s very nice for Smart Lock if you don’t regularly use another Bluetooth device.
Doesn’t work with trusted devices on 2013 moto x?
I like this – it’s the first thing like this I’ve seen that look like it “fits” on a keychain (for keychain look / feel).
Any idea if a phone set to vibrate / silent would ring with this item? or would it stay set to silent?
I just tried to ring my moto x 2014 via the moto connect chrome extension and app. Rang loud and clear with my phone set to vibrate. I would assume that the Keylink would work as well since it uses the same app.
