Don’t get your hopes up just yet — it’s not the big one. But Verizon LG G3 owners should know that an incoming software upgrade is being pushed out, and its biggest addition is a set of preparations for Android Calling 1.0.
Advanced Calling is what Verizon calls their voice-over LTE implementation which will allow you to place calls over Big Red’s 4G LTE network for clearer and more reliable end-to-end audio. Advanced Calling is also going to incorporate video calls that are charged to your plan’s calling minutes instead of sucking up your data allowance. Neato!
Beyond that, a handful of Verizon and LG apps have been updated to the latest versions, though the changes likely amount to little more than bug fixes and performance enhancements. Verizon did mention one specific issue being addressed, that being an issue with the built-in email client continuously refreshing and showing “updating” when switching between folders. Beyond all that, though, there isn’t much of a plate to eat off of here.
Those waiting for Lollipop will have to wait a little longer, though we know LG has the upgrade going out to handsets in other parts of the world and it’s only a matter of time before it finds its way to the Verizon faithful. Stay on the lookout for this one as the weeks move on.

I just checked and the update is waiting for new, although interestingly the link Verizon provides is to the last update doc, someone posted the right link on the forums.
I have my doubts about advanced calling 1.0 ” No, calls won’t switch between 3G and 4G LTE networks. If your call starts on the 3G network and you move to a 4G LTE coverage area, your call will continue as a 3G/CDMA call. However, if your call starts on the 4G LTE network and you move to a non-4G coverage area, your call will drop.” o good a guaranteed way to drop calls. They are also sketchy about whether it’ll work with any non Verizon people
I’m pretty sure my agreement when enabling advanced calling in my account for my G2 said that it only works within Verizon, when between two phones that both support it and have it enabled, and that the towers they are each connected to must have been upgraded for support. Anything else is just a gift from them I guess lol. They announced that they would be working with AT&T to make it work across carriers, so I expect that intercarrier part to work reliably by…oh… 2020.
