After announcements regarding the ever-exciting product category of washing machines and refrigerators, LG officially announced the LG G Flex 2 at CES 2015. We brought you most of the details you needed to know earlier this morning, but now that it’s official there’s a bit more to be known.
LG confirmed that the device will indeed be launching with Android 5.0 Lollipop with improved KnockCode that’ll allow you to swipe down on the display to check notifications while the display is off, and that they’ve used special treatment on the device’s cover glass to improve its durability by 20% compared to traditional glass covers.
We also learn that the self-healing back no longer takes 3 minutes — it can take as fast as 10 seconds for your device to restore itself to the way it looked when you took it out of the box. Something else that doesn’t take long to restore is battery life, with LG implementing a quick charge feature that can charge up to 50% of the device’s 3,000mAh battery in under 40 minutes. Not bad.
Everything else is as we’ve told you earlier this morning, specs wise:

It seems like a very worthy upgrade over the original if you were hoping for something a bit beefier, so be sure to consider it once it makes its way to market later this year. As for when, exactly, that’ll be? LG hasn’t said just yet for outside of South Korean — their hometown citizens get it at the end of the month — but it won’t be long before they dish out more launch details.
So far this product looks pretty outstanding. Even the UI has been cleaned up a lot. Personally doesn’t look too large either.
This LG G Flex 2 looks great! If it has the same bezel as the G3, it should be pretty compact.

Why only 2gb of ram? Are we going backwards now haha
OIther reports have it set up like the g3. 2gb ram/16gb storage and 3gb ram/32gb storage.
Not sure what those other reports are viewing, but the press release didn’t list 3GB of RAM for any size configuration. Will have to confirm with LG.
I have read the same, they have not released the actual RAM and its only speculated as of right now. Given the specs, I’d imagine is to be 3 gigs, since they are saying they built it to last.
Their press release actually did specifically mention 2GB of RAM, just not 3GB. It did list the 16GB/32GB storage in their own column, and the 2GB of RAM in its own column. I would hope it’s 3GB, but there’s nothing official that says anything about it so I would prefer not to assume that.
My guess is they went 2gb because it’s 1080p not 1440p, so it should run about the same as g3 ram wise. 3gb with 1080 would be beast mode, but probably unnecessary for most people. I figure we will have to wait till 2016/late 2015 before the 2nd gen 64bit processors with 4+gb of ram actually start coming out, I think at this point they are slowing down because they realize phones are reaching their final forms of necessary specs.

It will have the same options as the g3, 16gb is 2gb ram and 32gb is 3gb of ram.
Upgraded, but much smaller screen. Shame.
Much Smaller? By .5? 5.5 is the perfect mix especially with LG’s small bezels. I love the size of the g3 and it is by far the most comfortable phone I have used at the 5.5 screen size. If you think that’s too small then I guess you should get the shamu nexus.
Half an inch is a lot in phone screen real estate. And if you like it buy it, I never said it was a fail. I personally liked the G Flex 1s 6 inch display, and for me it feels like a downgrade. I do have the nexus 6 too, by the way.
They also never said you said it was a fail. Oh, I went there. =.P
But to me, .5 is a noticeable difference. I mean this I’d inches we’re talking about, not millimeters.
I’m hoping the M9 is unveiled. I was going to get the Nexus 6 until I read the rumors of the M9.

Hope this comes to Verizon. May seriously consider it. Want to see what the G4 brings though.
16/32 MB isn’t a lot : P
