Relatively unknown smartphone maker Saygus came out of left field during this year’s CES with their prototype Saygus V2 superphone. Originally, Saygus was giving anyone valuing a beefy spec sheet over a final, polished product the ability to pre-order the device on January 29th (that’s today), but has since pushed back this date to Feb 2nd, giving even more time to register and hold your spot in line.

What do you get when you pre-register? Saygus says they’ll be throwing in a free battery and a customized glass screen protector. Anyone who pre-registers before Feb 2nd will get a coupon code they can use to claim this “introductory package.” Oh, and in case you were thinking about hording all the V2’s to yourself, there’s a limit of 10 per customer. Damn.

Pre-orders will officially kick off at 11:59PM MST this Monday, February 2nd, 2015 (Groundhog Day) where the phone will be priced at $550. After pre-orders have concluded, the Saygus V2 price will jump up to $600. Notable Saygus V2 specs include a 5-inch 1080p display, 64GB internal storage, 2 micro SD card slots (up to 256GB), 21MP rear/13MP front facing cameras, and a large 3,100mAh battery.

Still on the fence? Don’t forget to check out our hands-on from CES earlier this month. Anyone thinking about picking one up?

  1. Looks great.

Make the screen 6″ and I’d be interested.

    1. Buy a Nexus 9 and stuff that in your pants instead. It’ll be great.

  2. Eh. It’s nice. I usually wait until the full on reviews hit before I throw down money for a new phone. I’m still chugging along on my GS5 for now. Looking for a full on factory unlocked device to go back to so I don’t have to deal with AT&T’s bloatware garbage. May end up back on the Z3.

  3. Wish I had the dough to throw at this thing

  4. What Processor is this thing running and how much RAM>

    1. Had to look for it myself. Here is an earlier phandroid article:

      1. So no answer on the processor

        1. “2.5Ghz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon”

        2. Snapdragon 801

    2. Snapdragon 801 3gb ram.

  5. I just went to their website and it is nothing but a cheap ass plain text notice “Down for maintenance.” – that is not a good sign on top of the order push.

Any idea what networks? Surely not a VZW capable phone.

Anyway IF they can pull this off, it is yet 1 more vendor – along with huawei, xiaomi – that shows companies like Samsung and HTC, Sony and the rest are holding back and dragging their feet on capabilities.

    1. Just found a 2009 reference to Saygus “VPhone” for Verizon that never ended up happening: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2391036,00.asp

  6. Wasn’t this the one that was horribly built and you could still see the glue?

Either way, too new a company to drop so much money on without knowing about upgrades on software and SPECIFICALLY what processor they’re using.

    1. No it wasn’t improperly glued. I thought it did at first. But from the final design, they cleaned up nice. It’s the 801 snapdragon processor they went with. it was the most stable for utilizing all its functions. Can’t blame them for that

  7. Intriguing…
What LTE frequencies does it support? Looks like stock Android… is that correct? Any word on when it’s getting Lollipop?
Edit: And which quad-core Qualcomm processor is it using?

    1. It supports Cat4 LTE frequencies. Snapdragon 801. I’m not sure about if it’s running stock. It could be running stock, but don’t quote me. Just add cyangenmod until the stock lollipop is available.

      1. Does “Cat4 LTE” cover T-Mo and AT&T’s frequencies?

  8. Here’s a tweet a got earlier today, about the updates on the Saygus V2. And yes everyone. It’s using a Snapdragon 801 processor. Check out @Saygus’s Tweet: https://twitter.com/Saygus/status/560891206041751552?s=09

  9. Good and intriguing specs, but the design is only fine.

  10. Signed up!

  11. For that price, this will flop.

  12. Most of the specs are great, and a 1080p screen I could live with, but stuffing the 801 in there? My N5 has that chip in it and the phone is well over a year old.
