Here at Phandroid, we’re well versed in the musical art of hip-hop. Rhymes, rhythm, and flow — don’t believe us? Check out our G1 rap video from back in ’08. Looking back, we’ll admit. It’s a little rough. But we think Rob Jackson did a bang up job of providing the world’s best Android rap video during a time when an Android device’s killer feature was its slide out keyboard (man, I miss those).
Here we are today, and it feels like ages since we had a good rap video touting a phone’s superiority over another. Thankfully, HTC teamed up with PM Dawn’s Doc G and they didn’t pull any punches, putting both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and iPhone 6 on blast. They also reminded us why we never saw a sequel to our popular Android rap video: because they simply aren’t good.
While we’re still trying to figure out if HTC’s “Hold the Crown” is satire or a legitimate attempt at making the HTC One M8 “cool,” we can’t help but wonder if our original video served as inspiration. Check out HTC’s latest video below and let us know what you think.
