We were surprised to find that, during HTC’s big Mobile World Congress reveal, the manufacturer failed to mention anything about the oft rumored HTC One M9 Plus (aka HTC Hima Ultra). This was after the handset had been leaked numerous times, allegedly coming equipped with a MediaTek processor and fancy Samsung-like home button.
For all those anxious to get their hands on the HTC phablet, it seems it wont be much longer. According to @upleaks, he confirmed via his Twitter account today that the phone will allegedly launch towards the end of Q1 (late March), or the beginning of Q2 (early April). What’s more is the official launch name will be the One M9+, not “Plus.”
Rumored HTC One M9+ specs
- MediaTek MT6795 64-bit octa-core processor
- 5.2-inch WQHD display
- 3GB RAM
- 32GB internal storage
- Touch based finger print sensor (located on front)
- Android 5.0.2 with Sense 7.0
- 20.7MP + 2.1MP rear cameras (Duo Camera)
- 13MP front facing camera
- BoomSound
- Bluetooth 4.1
- 2,840mAh Battery
Originally, @upleaks mentioned the EMEA/USA version was going to carry a Snapdragon processor, but had been cancelled. While it seems the M9+ is apparently now on for EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), apparently it will still feature the same MediaTek processor as the Asian variant. Boo.
I wonder how good the MediaTek processor is. I’m not a big fan of HTC’s camera, even at 20MP. I use my camera pretty often, so that alone can spoil it for me unfortunately. 5.2 isn’t overly big so that’s good they kept it minimal as possible. I wonder why they didn’t just launch this as the main phone..
Don’t know about the MT6795 specifically, but every Mediatek-based device I’ve seen has had Bluetooth issues, very late or no Android updates, and non-existent developer support. Steer clear!
That’s not good news then. I wasn’t planning on getting this phone anyways. If it had a quality camera, and a different processor (assuming it has the issues you mentioned) I would be all over it.
I have the HTC one max, and I’ve been waiting for this phone. Everything looks great, but 5.2 screen?
I know right, I mean I would be ok with 5.5, they better not dare sell it for the price of something like a Note 4
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking – it must be a typo or inaccurate IMO … I don’t see why they’d bother releasing a “phablet” with a screen size just 0.2″ larger than their original device. Doesn’t make sense.
Hope to hear something official before the M9 release/availability/order date of 4/10/15.
Where did you get that date from? I have March 26th, 2015.
Directly from HTC,for the M9’s US Release:

What’s up with that battery?
Whoever approved all the unbalanced, misaligned speaker grills and front-facing camera needs to be fired. It just looks stupid, as if it was designed by a elementary school student.
I want it I want it want it I WANT IT AHHHHH I WANT IT. NOW DAMN IT.?
Meh… zero interest from this corner.
So just a .2 inch bump in screen size with downgraded processor/screen technology and they are calling this the ‘+’ version. Seriously, WTF HTC.
SD Card slot?
PASS!! It’s really starting to look like like z4 or g4 for me.. Unless those become passes as well.. Then I’ll just keep my note 3 and hold off until the note 5 release..
Note 5 should be interesting with Samsung’s own custom GPU core, but I would wait until S7 or Note 6, both of which should have Samsung’s own custom CPU and GPU cores.
Mediatek and hope button? Ugh can’t do it
Other sites are reporting that those specs are not for the U.S. unit.
Is Mediatek meant to be like a Texas Instruments processor on the Moto 360 type of disappointment?
I think it’s worse. With TI there’s actual support and development. MT is just a mess.
I doubt most of this is right
Galaxy phones called. They want their home button back.
Did anyone recently read articles about meditek’s latest processors? That and exynos SoC’s are moving up in the world, and are making impressive strides, compared to qualcomm. I suggest you find these articles, and read them, before passing judgement. Success, and competition, in the markets, brings better stuff, and qualcomm’s dominance is waning. If apple can bring impressive SoC’s, I’m sure others can too, not just qualcomm(it’ll make them work harder).
Damn this is going to be a tough buy for me. MT, only 2 inches, and a damn home button? I really want an HTC phablet but this ain’t it.
I agree. Gotta be 5.7-6.0.
Even though this is a leak and nothing is guaranteed until the official announcement, but I am happy to know soon will be able to upgrade from the One Max.
just fyi, the mediatek 6795 processor destroys the snapdragon 810 in every benchmark out there…a quick google search will show this. if you are going to complain about something here, complain about something else other than the processor.
I’m complaining about the release date of the device! and if this device is real.
I get this HTC only if contained DDR4 ram, or nothing
