Google Cardboard VR virtual reality proposal video

You knew it was coming. Proposals are a big thing on YouTube and what better way to ensure your video goes viral than by combining your proposal with some new bleeding edge tech. We’ve seen everything from Google Glass proposals, to a full on Android wedding.

Now, we have someone using the power of Google Cardboard (this $35 Cardboard kit here) along with his trusty Nexus 5 to propose to his girlfriend in virtual reality. You heard right, this dude somehow got the bright idea to integrate VR into his proposal. Not going to lie, that’s pretty clever. Check it the video below to see exactly how it all went down.

VR is a hot ticket item in tech. Recently we saw YouTube rollout support for VR and even saw one man attend the birth of his child using the Samsung Gear VR. While some might find it “gimmicky,” its value in entertainment is obvious. Now if only guys like the one above would stop running proposals for regular Joe Schmoes like ourselves, that’d be great.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. That was awesome! :)

  2. There should have been more VR IMO. But creative nonetheless.

  3. Thanks for the coverage Chris! I’ll try not to run it for anyone else! ;P Simi Valley in the hiz-house!

@steveb944:disqus there were actually 11 total photospheres we took that Maggie viewed with the Cardboard, however due to editing and pacing concerns we cut the VR portion to only accommodate about half of them… Thanks!

    “ru I ning”

    so close.

      1. Oh, ho ho…
I have a few posts that I can show you that are COMPLETELY different from what the poster meant since the grammar is incorrect.

It’s already hard to detect tone of voice. Let’s make it more difficult to understand what the person is trying to say. LoL!!

It’s funny how divided the internet is. But we truly saw the division with that satanic dress. ._.

        1. I’m just a joker. i do this all in jest. i do hate the people that go all out on the criticism. “did the writer even proofread this before posting this. OMG” it’s like if you can understand what the writer was saying then why make a big deal about it. FYI the dress was blue and black. lol

          1. If I see a meme, I automatically assume the person doesn’t have harmful intentions with their words.

And I don’t even want to get started on that dress. I don’t know why I did. It divided our family. My mom didn’t want to make my plate of food. I had to be a big boy. LoL!!

  5. That was really cool! Directed/Edited very well too! But 5 years bro? It’s about time! Congrats!

  6. It’s things like this that always makes me wonder why people are two-faced about technology. One moment it seems “everyone” is upset that people are always on their phones and stuff, then the next moment “everyone” is astounded and amazed with new technology.

My rant aside, this is cool. I want to incorporate newer technology with my future spouse… if I marry. Marrying seems like it’s way too much trouble. We can just be together. LoL!!

  7. Running proposal for the rest of us? Ruining

  8. Anymore people so badly need everyone else involved to make life feel special or to just let everyone know what they are doing. I love tech, but this was as korny as hell and I don’t jump on the “oh how awesome” band wagon. People like this and people willing to participate in this scare me.
