It must be a great day to announce product launches. After Sony announced both Google Cast ready soundbars, A/V receivers, and their upcoming Android TV powered 4K Ultra HDTVs, we now have Samsung chiming in with pricing and availability of their latest Android tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A.
Specs probably wont blow your socks off, but the Samsung Galaxy Tab A will be available in 2 different sizes — 8-inch and 9.7-inch models — both with a 1024×768 resolution display in a 4:3 aspect ratio. The 8-inch version will retail for $230, while the 9.7-inch (which comes with an S Pen digital stylus) will be available for $300.
The rest of the hardware specs include a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, micro SD card slot (up to 128GB), 5MP rear/2MP front facing cameras, and a 4,200mAh battery — all running on Android 5.0 Lollipop. Also worth noting, the larger 9.7-inch Tab A features two speakers on the bottom, while the smaller version only has one.
You can pre-order the tablets right now in the US via the link below in either white, blue, or titanium color options, with the official launch kicking off May 1st from retailers like Amazon or Best Buy. Let’s not all rush out at once.

Find it kinda funny that even the renders are looking a bit drab/dull/washed-out,keeping lockstep w/Lollipops’ fugly eyesore flat palatte.
Considering the Nvidia Shield 16gb tablet is ~$300 why bother with something that’s this bad? I’m not trying to troll but it shouldn’t even be considered for that price point. I could see $200 at most for the SPen enabled version but that’s pushing it for a low end tablet with a EOL before it hits the shelf as far as software goes.
I agree, this is a ripoff.
I don’t dislike Sa!sung, infact I love my Samsung OLED TV and Ativ book 9 Plus, however I don’t know why anyone would but something this overpriced.
Also tablets should never have capacitive/hard keys on the front because it makes using them a hinderance. I enjoy my Nexus 9 and ST even though I wish they had the TabS’s AMOLED screen.
You can get much better tablets for those prices. These should be half the prices their asking.

Really, using 4:3 aspect ratio is not copying off the iPad. 4:3 was the standard for televisions for decades. Computer monitors were 4:3. There is nothing original or magical about using a 4:3 aspect ratio. That is just as ridiculous as saying the Apple owns the rectangle shape for screen devices. Apple did not even come out with the first 4:3 tablet.
If you are going to criticize Samsung for copying, state something that is original not a standard.

I would have to say both these tablets are overpriced. I’m not an Apple fan but I’m also not a Samsung apologist either. I will not even consider buying these. As stated above the Nvidia tablet would be a better deal then these would. It’s 2015 dammit why are we still being offered 16gb versions of anything? Memory costs aren’t that much. Yes I know you can add a SD card but that’s not the point. For 300 bucks I can by a decent enough laptop even.
1024×768 resolution on 8″ and 10″. While on the S6 with 5.1″ the resolution is 1440×2560. This sounds absurd. I wonder what is the rational.
