Razer Forge Android TV Bundle pops up on Play Store for $150

It’s been quite a couple hours for those seeking goodies on the Google Play Store. First we saw BestBuy and Amazon leak the Nest Cam security camera hours before it appeared on the Play Store and shortly after we were treated to an updated Nest Protect. But Google wasn’t finished, posting the Razer Forge Gaming TV Bundle for sale on the Play Store.

Google is selling the bundle – which comes with the Razer Forge TV, controller, and related connections – for $149.99. You can buy additional controllers for $79.99.

We first saw the Razer Forge at CES and got hands on with the device, seeing it go up for sale a few months later. It’s currently available on Amazon for the same $150 price seen on the Play Store and you may note the alarmingly low star rating. Many reviewers claim it’s buggy and perhaps their quest for polish is what led Razer to purchase OUYA only a few days ago.

Key Razer Forge specs:

  • Android 5.0 Lollipop
  • Console Dimensions: 4.13 x 4.13 x 0.67 inches
  • Console Weight: 0.53 lbs
  • Controller Dimensions: 6.06 x 4.25 x 2.32 inches
  • Controller Weight: 0.37 lbs
  • Memory: 2GB LPDDR3-800MHz
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Processor
  • Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2×2
  • Bluetooth 4.1 +HS
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • Quad-core Krait 450 CPU (2.5GHz per core)
  • Adreno 420 Graphics

The console comes with a DC Power adapter and the Serval controller uses 2 AA batteries which come in the box when you purchase the bundle. You’ll also get all the required wires and connections including a detachable game clip.

So how about it… will you be buying the Razer Forge TV Bundle or holding out for something better?

  2. the Razer fan in me is loving this. i really hope they can keep up with the demand this will bring. that has always been one of Razers biggest issues.

    1. Shield TV kills this box. Plus it still doesn’t even have netflix…

      1. I never said it was better than the shield tv. all I said was that i’m happy two of my favorite companies are working together.

        1. Ouya and Razer? Simple pleasures, I suppose…

          1. google and razer. the ouya was terrible.

  3. I have one…and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else. The remote app is a pain and takes a long time to connect…so the absence of a physical remote is felt. The last OS update to 5.1.1 failed, and would only take after doing a factory reset. As mentioned…NO NETFLIX. I don’t think it can read external drives. A pretty regrettable purchase.

    1. You can use google’s remote app. it’s much better.

  4. This product has 1.8/5 on Amazon.

  5. Your best off buying it from Razer directly, they offer free shipping to most states and are running a promo to get the bundle for $130.

  6. GG, AA Batteries. Li only please.

  7. Non-rechargeable batteries, expensive controllers, almost same price as Shield TV and tainted by Ouya.

    Buh-bye.

  8. And no 4K support, right?
