It was a mere month ago that a reputable Redditor with inside knowledge dropped news of a few forthcoming Motorola handsets. Those handsets included what we believed to be the 3rd generation Moto X, as well as a phone being made specifically for Verizon (likely a DROID).
That phone was the Motorola XT1585 Kinzie, and now word of its existence seems to be backed up by a solid benchmark. GFXBench shows a phone that sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, Qualcomm’s Octa-Core Snapdragon 810, 3GB of RAM, “21GB” of internal storage (likely 32GB with a lot chopped off for the system), a 20 megapixel camera with 4K video and a 5 megapixel front camera. It’s also running Android 5.1, though that’s not too surprising.
So, par for the course for a 2015 flagship. That’s still about as much as we know about the phone to this point, though it’s nice to get a solid sheet of specs to look forward to ahead of announcement. Is this sounding like a DROID that you wouldn’t mind owning?
Those specs are HOT!
The processor is even hotter
Bah dum tss
Nice Specs… But I would still rather have my Nexus 6
What the f**k kind of OS needs 11 gigabytes of storage? That’s obscene
It’s probably including pre installed bloat as well.
Verizon Bloat. The worst Bloat of all!!!
Are you aware of the “gig” convertion loss (1024 to 1000), right?
Yep, they’re hot, just like last year when the Droid Turbo came out. Unfortunately I’ve spent the last 7 months watching every other phone get upgraded to Lollipop except my Turbo. Every article/tweet I read says Moto X and Moto G, even tho the Turbo has better specs. If this Kinzie is the new Moto X, great, but if it’s like a Droid Turbo 2, no thanks!
Most of those phones got 5.0 which was filled with bugs. I’m glad they waited.
Today’s your day, or at least soon.

Whoo hoo! What a great way to wake up!
Let’s see if Moto can cool down the dragon a bit…
Hopefully it gets supported for longer than 12 months.
I wish the Turbo was supported in general! lol.. (yes, I know the update is coming soon)
Can I have a 2015 Moto X rocking a 5.2 inch 1080p screen please? Thanks Moto!!
I want a fingerprint scanner on my next phone.
Still can’t believe the DROID Turbo doesnt have Lollipop…Why doesn’t the Verizon Moto X & Droid Turbo get the Lollipop at the same time? Same manufacturer and same carrier.
They waited to go to 5.1. 5.0 was filled with bugs. Soak test happening now.
I’ve been on 5.0.2 since late march without any such bugs. Don’t know who created that tripe.
It’s in all the forums. Not too many phones have 5.1.
I can believe it. Because Verizon.
Unless this is a replacement for the Droid Turbo, I don’t see the spec bump as big enough to get excited over. We need the battery to be big enough for 2.5 or better yet 3 days of battery life and perhaps if it has front facing speakers, such a phablet might be worth buying.
5.5″ is hardly a phablet anymore.
The Kinzie is also an upscale Hotel in Chicago.
5.5″ is too big, and I’m afraid any phone two years from now will either be at least this big or have an inadequate processor or battery life.
5.5″ is too small. I want more manufacturers to get on the 6.44″ form factor, if you’re going big go BIG. Once you use a phone that size you won’t want to go back.
6.44? That’s random. I have a 7″ Galaxy Tab that’s also a phone, and I never used it as a phone. The iPhone 4 is the perfect size for my hands, and most reviewers I’ve heard say 5″ is the limit of comfortableness.
