Now that most major OEMs have shown their hands this year — the HTC One M9, Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4, Sony Xperia Z4, Motorola Moto X Style (Pure Edition) — we now look toward the end of the year where Google will not only officially release Android M (as well as its formal name), but another Nexus device. Current rumors point toward there being 2 Nexus devices this year: a larger handset from Huawei, and a smaller one from LG.
Of course, the rumor mill is always churning and if you’re willing to take the following information with a huge grain of salt, we may have learned of the devices’ leaked specs. The source is GizmoChina and if true, it seems the LG-made Nexus 5 could be the more affordable of the 2 coming equipped with a 5.2-inch 1080p OLED display, Snapdragon 620 (MSM8976), 4GB DDR3 RAM, up to 64GB of internal storage, 3,180mAh non-removable battery, wireless charging, WiFi, NFC, and Bluetooth 4.2. An interesting assortment of hardware, to say the least.
As for the Huawei Nexus, it’s said to pack a 5.7-inch WQHD AMOLED display, metal unibody design, and 21MP Sony IMX230 rear camera (same as found on the Moto X Style), along with Qualcomm’s Rezence/WiPower wireless charging (which recently added the ability to charge through metal) built in. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but enough that we’re intrigued.
Again, this is a rumor and like most things on the internet, it doesn’t mean it’s necessarily true. Even if these specs were legitimately leaked, there’s no telling how far along in the production process these devices were before they received this info. Things change and while this doesn’t sound like the usual wishlist of assorted hardware, we’re still hesitant to believe and you should be too.
