After learning this afternoon that Moto X Plays would officially begin shipping August 26th when purchased directly from Motorola in the UK, we’re now learning about the phone’s upcoming Canadian launch. To our surprise, Moto fans in Canada wont even have to wait as long as our friends overseas, with Motorola Canada announcing via Twitter that the Motorola Moto X Play will be officially available for purchase in-store starting this Friday, August 21st.
Once again, the Moto X Play features a 5.5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, 21MP/5MP cameras, NFC, and an ample 3,630mAh battery that Motorola says can deliver up to 48 hours of battery life. Although a US release isn’t in the cards, don’t be surprised if we see this launching under a different name (with slightly tweaked hardware) in the near future, possible under Verizon’s DROID brand.
While they didn’t list any retailers, we’re guessing all the usual carrier stores and Best Buys are included. So, if you were really itching to get your hands on the Moto X Play as soon as possible, a short trip to the local store might be in order.
