We’re not sure why you’d do it, but if you were waiting to buy the NVIDIA SHIELD TV until it landed in the Google Store, today’s the day you can finally buy one. It’s $199.99 with free shipping, which is the same price you can get it for should you buy it through Amazon, Best Buy or straight from NVIDIA themselves.
NVIDIA SHIELD TV combines Android TV with NVIDIA’s Tegra X1 chipset, which uses a custom 256-core Maxwell GPU and a 64-bit chipset. It could be a serious gaming console if you aren’t interested in going with the usual options available from Sony or Microsoft.
It also has 3GB of RAM, 16GB fo strage, dual-band 2×2 MIMO WiFi AC, support for up to 4K video, HDMI, gigabit ethernet, 2 USB 3.0 ports, a microSD slot for storage expansion and more.
The NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV also comes with a wireless controller with a microphone for easy voice commands. You can add more of those for $60 each if you need more than one. There’s also a traditional-style remote with microphone available for another $50, if you’re so inclined. Finally, a $30 stand is available to prop it up if laying flat just isn’t your thing. Let us know if you’ll be grabbing one.
