LG has started teasing us about an announcement they’re planning to make September 21st. “Something New” is the only tagline they give us, but they did throw us a rather large and tasty bone to go along with it: a back shot of the actual device.
We’re not yet sure what this device is, but it appears to sport LG’s typical rear-facing button arrangement. The buttons sit beneath the camera and flash on a protruded portion of the chassis. There’s also a speaker grill off to the right of it, and a thin slit going across the top. The chassis appears to be metal, which isn’t something we often see out of LG’s wares.
Onleaks handler Steve Hammerstoffer believes this device will come to market as the LG Class, with its model number being H740. Benchmarks for that device have popped up recently, and they tell us to expect a device that seemingly straddles the line between mid-range and high-end. Here’s what we can expect:
- 5.7-inch 1080p display
- 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615
- 12 or 13 MP rear camera with LED flash,1080p video, 5 MP front camera
- 2GB of RAM, 8GB of storage
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, an accelerometer, compass, and pedometer.
- Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
That doesn’t sound bad, especially if the price turns out to be just right. We’re going to be all ears once LG takes the wraps off so circle back if you’re curious about what this thing will bring to the table.
