It was only a few days ago we got a leaked list of HTC devices that were on the roadmap to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Not only do we get confirmation that the list was real from HTC mouthpiece Jason Mackenzie, but we even get a timeline for two of HTC’s flagship devices.
The HTC One M8 and HTC One M9 are both promised to get the update by the end of the year. Unfortunately, that could be anytime between now and January 1st, 2016 at 12 AM, so there’s no telling when, exactly, it’ll arrive. It’s also worth remembering that updates are only ever promised to begin for unlocked international models. Carrier-handled variants are subject to testing and approval, which tend to add a considerable amount of time to rollouts.
So here’s what the full list of planned HTC Marshmallow updates looks like in official capacity:
- HTC Desire 816
- HTC Desire 820
- HTC Desire 826
- HTC One M8
- HTC One M8 EYE
- HTC One E8
- HTC One M9
- HTC One M9+
- HTC One ME
- HTC One E9+
- HTC One E9+
- HTC Butterfly 3
Those with the Desire EYE, Butterfly 2 and M8s will notice their devices aren’t present — we told you not to put total faith into a leak, didn’t we? That said, HTC notes that additional devices will be confirmed down the line, so it’s possible they need a bit more evaluation time for those missing devices (and perhaps more) before they can say for certain they’ll get Lollipop. As for everyone else? Let the waiting game commence.
