Yesterday we learned that Android 6.0 Marshmallow was officially rolling out to Google’s own Nexus devices but it’s easy to forget that there’s still another, almost Nexus out there. It’s the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition and it’s about to get a new lease on life. According to HTC Product Manager Mo Versi, it could be receiving Marshmallow later this month.
He wouldn’t commit to specific timing, instead saying he’ll provide further updates once that update gets a little closer to release. He’s better off too. The last thing HTC needs right now is another negative headline like “Marshmallow for the One M8 GPE delayed.” Last year, the One M8 GPE was one of the first to receive Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, only 5 days after it hit Nexus devices.
For those of you with the regular model HTC One M8, there are a few handy tutorials in getting that thing flashed over to a Google Play Edition device, just proceed with caution.
