OnePlus Mini / X exposed in Chinese certification photos
If you’ve been holding out on buying one of this year’s larger-sized flagships in hopes of picking up something a little more 1-hand friendly, OnePlus might have you covered. The company that introduced the world’s most frustrating invite system — and a pretty decent smartphone to go with it — has been working on a new, lower priced version of their flagship. We know it’s coming out later this year, but all we’ve seen of it are a few unofficial renders. Nothing concrete. That is, until now.
China’s equivalent of the FCC just published the certification paperwork of a mysterious OnePlus branded device and if we were betting men, we’d put our money on it being the OnePlus Mini. Or OnePlus X. Okay, so nobody is quite sure what OnePlus will call it, but the model number could be ONE E1001, as tipped by someone on Weibo.
It’s there images of the device were posted from TENAA and we have to say, it looks a whole lot different than those early renders we saw awhile back. With inspiration no doubt taken from a certain Apple smartphone, the Mini/X has 2.5D glass covering the front and metal band wrapped around the sides. We know the One Mini/X was said to come equipped with NFC, so that plastic or glass on the back certainly supports this. OnePlus” signature quick toggle sound switch appears to be included as well, something we loved about the OnePlus 2.
According to the filing, the phone’s dimensions will measure 140 x 69 x 6.9 mm with a 5-inch display. A 2,450mAh battery is also on board and although a tag on the small size, could do well enough for a smaller-sized phone like this. Rumor has it the Mini/X could launch this month at $250, but we’re just hoping it wont come with the awful OnePlus invite system.
