Have you looked at your Google Now list today? Among your usual sports scores, weather updates and traffic conditions, you might find an interesting new card: one where Google is asking if you want to beta test new versions of the Google app.
If you click it, it’ll take you through the process of signing up to beta test, something that’s as simple as signing and hitting a button. Those who haven’t gotten the notification can still sign up if they want — park it right here and opt-in. You’ll get an update soon after opting in, which is presumably a beta version that has yet to roll out.
There aren’t any noticeable differences to the version that’s being rolled out right now, so it’s possible it’s just a routine update that changes and fixes things behind the scenes. Even still, it’s rare that Google opens their apps up for beta testing, and the fact that they’re doing it with their main bread-and-butter search app is enticing enough for us to get excited. Be sure to join in if it sounds like your cup of tea.
