With a OnePlus X announcement expected to take place October 27th, the rumors are heating up. We’ve seen our fair share of leaks and renders, but new goods — originating via Chinese social network Weibo — show a potential design quirk we hadn’t seen before: a glass back.
You can see that the rear glass panel may be 2.5D curved glass in the photo of the black model. The upper right reflection tips us off to that much. It would be a very neat touch for OnePlus, who has typically opted to go with premium-looking plastic material for their prior 2 phones.
Of course, it could be that someone photoshopped these images to throw us off, so we’ll have to leave open the possibility that they’re fake (even though the device’s appearance at the TENAA also showed evidence of a glass-plated rear).
This would also be our first confirmation that there will be more than one color option available. OnePlus has always gone with at least Black and White in some fashion, so there’s no surprise to learn the trend may continue with the OnePlus X.
OnePlus will reveal everything we want to know about the device at an October 27th event, but we already know to expect a 5-inch display, Snapdragon 801 chipset, NFC and a fingerprint scanner, all of which should be available for a nice price tag of $250. Are you contemplating grabbing one of these once they’re available?
