Nintendo 64 emulator Android Wear

If you were crazy, you could play Super Mario 64 on your Android Wear smartwatch [VIDEO]

It seems like every few months we come across another video where someone has done the unthinkable and loaded up their Android Wear smartwatch with some new game or OS. Because most smartwatches these days are powered by a fully capable Snapdragon 400 processor — the same one inside full-sized smartphones like the 1st and 2nd gen Motorola Moto G — they can handle most emulators found on the Google Play Store with little effort.

All you have to do is load up the emulator APK, find a ROM online, and you’re good to go. That is, if gaming on a tiny 3-inch screen sounds fun to you. And it might even be somewhat convenient if your chubby potato fingers weren’t covering most of the display the entire time. In the video below, Hacking Jules managed to fire up Super Mario 64 and the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time on the LG G Watch and surprisingly enough, both ran pretty well. See for yourself in the video below.

More than anything, this is just a proof of concept and while most of us would never think about gaming on our Android Wear smartwatches, sometimes it’s just nice to know that you can do something, if you don’t want to. Just imagine connecting a Bluetooth controller and playing a quick session of Street Fighter at the DMV. I’d be down. As a bonus, a video showing what that would be like (minus the controller part) can also be found below.
