There are few people in the world who haven’t played Crossy Road and probably even fewer who didn’t love it. For those that did, Hipster Whale’s Matt Hall and Andy Sum are back again. This time around they’re getting a little help from Ben Britten and Matt Ditton with a new game studio they formed called Mighty Games. Their newest game — Shooty Skies — just hit Google Play and it’s pretty damn great.
Chances are you’ve already heard about Shooty Skies. It netted close to a million downloads its first week on the Apple Store early last month. Visually, Shooty Skies features that 3D, 8-bit look of Cross Road, but infuses it with the gameplay of an endless runner and bullet hell shooter. The result is something that’s easy to pick up and play, but difficult to master.
The name of the game is simple: shoot everything that moves for as long as you can and rack up the highest score. In the end no matter how many times you die — and oh, you will die — you’ll always keep coming back for more. Just like Crossy Road, you can use the coins gathered throughout your runs to purchase tons of unlockables like new character skins or power-ups for your aircraft.
Since Shooty Skies is free to play, you don’t have any excuses to keep you from downloading and enjoying all the mayhem right now. We think you’ll be glad you did.
