Google periodically expands the collection of icons they offer for those who create their apps with Material Design. The list has more than 800 different icons, and over 90 more are being added in the latest update.
There are a lot of sensible additions here for different types of apps. A paw print is perfect for an app that has something to do with pets. Android 6.0 Marshmallow’s fingerprint scanner support is nice for the various apps which make use of such a feature.
And then there’s some off-the-path stuff that might jump out at you, such as an icon of a pregnant woman, or a couch to signify the joys of the weekend. Someone out there will find some use for them, we’re sure.
If you’re developer or designer and you need access to these icons, Google makes it very simple to download and use individual ones, or you can grab the full lot of them through the company’s public Github repo right here. Be mindful to select the proper DPI and tone to ensure it looks great in your apps.
