Moto G 2014 Marshmallow soak test could be headed out today

0

Reports are swarming in that owners of the Moto G 2014 who are part of the Motorola Feedback Network are starting to receive a big upgrade. It’s 468MB in size, and it brings the treat we’ve all been waiting for — Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The 2nd Gen Moto G was one of the devices that opted to skip Android 5.1 Lollipop and head straight to Marshmallow. It may have sounded bad at the time, but you won’t feel that way when you’re receiving the latest version of Android as opposed to a version from last year.

The changelog for the Moto G’s Marshmallow update is naturally light, as Motorola doesn’t do much to customize the experience like other manufacturers would. With that, you should expect mostly all of Android 6.0 Marshmallow’s changelog to apply to this update (obviously excluding the new fingerprint scanner stuff as the phone doesn’t have the hardware to use it). Motorola also took some of their own-built features away because the features are present in Marshmallow as standard.

Those who are in the feedback program should stay on the lookout for build 24.11.10 so be sure to let us know if you see it. If things go well Motorola will likely start rolling the update out to the masses very shortly.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.
