We weren’t sure what forces of evil were keeping T-Mobile’s specific Nexus 6 model from receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but the company’s product manager has announced that the update has finally been approved and that rollouts will begin “soon.” He says we should be seeing it arrive as MRA58X, but had no further details to share.
According to him, the update had to undergo several testing phases to ensure that Band 12 LTE was properly supported in order to ensure folks could properly use WiFi calling. T-Mobile users were always free to flash the standard Nexus 6 Marshmallow builds from Google, but likely wouldn’t have been able to enjoy WiFi calling properly.
And that’s as far as our knowledge goes. While Des suggests the update should be on the latest Marshmallow build (which would include November’s Android security patches), he isn’t ready to confirm any hard information, with most inquiries met with similar advice: wait until the support pages are updated. Those pages should be updated sometime today, so we’ll be on the lookout for further information, and we’ll simultaneously have our fingers crossed that the rollout itself won’t be far behind.
