Huawei Watch software update brings customizable watch face, handful of other improvements
Chris Chavez
It may not be the update to Android Wear 1.4 (Marshmallow) that some were hoping for, but the Huawei Watch is receiving a software update today that should leave users happy. Rolling out to all versions as software build number LCB43B, the new update squashes some bugs and generally improves upon some of the smartwatch’s core functions.
Huawei Watch LCB43B changelog
Optimized the mic gain for improved “Ok Google” detection
Optimized the fitness tracking to improve step counting accuracy
Optimized the Bluetooth reconnect mechanism
Add a new app to display the battery level when charging
Add a new watch face that user can self-customize
Add fusion sensor of gravity/linear acceleration/rotation vector
If you’re not sure if your Watch has been updated, or perhaps you’d simply like to manually pull the update instead of waiting around, step-by-step instructions for both are as follows:
How to check the current software build
Long press the crown button to open the app launcher
Select the Settings app
Scroll down and click About
Scroll down and look for Build number
How to check for a system update
Long press the crown button to open the app launcher
Select the Settings app
Scroll down and click About
Scroll down and click System updates
Huawei says the update begins rolling out this week and should hit everyone by week’s end, so if you don’t see it quite yet, don’t worry — it’s coming. Huawei also mentions that if you have any feedback after updating (both good or bad), to leave your thoughts in their community forum here.
