Fitbit has revealed their latest wearable today. It’s the FitBit Blaze, and although their Surge HR was a smart watch-like device, the Blaze embraces that classification through and through. It’s square, has a color display, and should look more at home with a nightlife outfit than the typical FitBit does.
The internals are encased in a stainless steel frame, and the device’s sporty elastomer straps can be swapped out with leather ($99) or stainless steel ($129). The embedded heart rate monitor gives you all you need for tracking workouts, sleep patterns and all-day activity. You can also specify activities like biking and running to have relevant stats tracked, and Fitbit’s SmartTrack feature can automatically start recording stats if you’ve forgotten to specify what you’re doing.
Beyond that, it has basic controls for music, and can show alerts for calls, texts, email, much like the Surge. It’ll also last a good 5 days on a charge, and it only takes 1-2 hours to go from zero to 100%. Pre-sales have started for $199, so be sure to claim one for yourself if this is the dream Fitbit you’ve been waiting for.
