Lenovo announces the affordable VIBE S1 Lite

Among its CES announcements Lenovo has introduced the VIBE S1 Lite, an affordable midrange smartphone that packs a feature set that could easily demand a price tag much higher than the $199 it will sell for. Combined with Lenovo’s understated approach to design, the VIBE S1 Lite makes for a quietly compelling device.

The VIBE S1 Lite features a 5-inch IPS display with Full HD resolution, 13MP and 8MP rear and selfie cameras, and 16GB of onboard storage (plus SD expandability). For processing we get an octo-core MediaTek SoC that should offer solid, albeit hardly scorching, performance. The processor is paired with 2GB of RAM and dual-SIM support with LTE. Not too shabby.

The only downside? Don’t expect to see Lenovo’s latest in the US, where Motorola is the prime focus of its parent company. The phone will, however, be widely available in other regions where Lenovo does business more regularly. Expect it to launch during the first quarter of this year.
