Samsung announced at their CES 2016 press conference that Samsung Pay is expanding to three more countries. Australia, Singapore and Brazil will join the UK, Spain and China (and that’s not to mention the US and Korea where it’s already being used) in being able to pay for goods using nothing but their smartphones.
Samsung continued to reiterate the importance of the use of MST technology, which allows you to use your phone to pay at a credit card terminal that doesn’t have NFC installed. The company says the amount of terminals without NFC is 5 times more than the new stuff, which is quite a significant number and underlines the importance of being able to support traditional terminals for mobile payments. Let’s hope the rollout doesn’t take long.
