Samsung didn’t have much news for wearables at this year’s CES, but they gave us the next best thing to a full-fledged new device. Platinum and Rose Gold color variants were announced for the Samsung Galaxy Gear S2 Classic, bringing some classy new options to the lineup of smartwatches.
Both are more or less the same design we have come to know with familiar functionality on Samsung’s part. Remember, these watches are not Android Wear devices, but rather utilize Samsung’s in-house Tizen platform. They are still entirely compatible with Android (and Samsung even announced iOS integration along with the new designs). The twist-and-turn bezel is still a seamless solution for interacting with content on the watch outside of its touchscreen.
Aside from new casings, the watches will come equipped with genuine leather bands. The Rose Gold edition gets an ivory strap while the Platinum edition gets a classy black look. The former definitely has a more feminine touch while the latter would look quite sharp with a suit. But the bands will be interchangeable, as usual, with a selection of new leather from top designers like Columbo or fun fare to express your style.
The new looks definitely scream premium and are a nice compliment to the Gear S2 family. Expect both editions to be available for purchase sometime in February of this year.
