Apple has enjoyed a nearly 12-month run as the top-selling smartphone OEM in the US. That run was brought to an end back in March by Samsung. March is when the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge were first released, which goes to prove that pre-sales were as good as Samsung claimed.
Let’s talk turkey. Counterpoint Research reports that Samsung had 28.8% market share in March, compared to Apple’s 23%. It should be noted that this is essentially comparing brand new device sales to nearly year-old device sales, which isn’t exactly fair. The iPhone SE won’t be on sale until the end of this month. LG, ZTE, and Alcatel rounded out the top five.
It’s nice to see an Android OEM on the top of smartphone sales for at least one month. We’ll have to see how long Samsung can keep the streak alive. Do you or anyone you know have a Galaxy S7? Have you seen a lot of them around?
