The 2016 Zenvolution has arrived! At a press event in Taipei, ASUS unveiled its smartphone, computer and robotics (yes, Asus announced a cute and affordable Zenbo home robot) lineup for the second half of 2016. As far an Android devices are concerned, the new Asus ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Deluxe and ZenFone 3 Ultra have quite a bit to offer with large displays, fingerprint sensors and premium designs. Asus did not share when each device will make it to market, but we do know that they are targeting Q3 of 2016.
Priced at $249, the Asus ZenFone 3 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p LCD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protecting the front and back of the phone, Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, 16MP Sony IMX298 camera on the back, 8MP front-facing camera, 3000mAh battery, USB 2.0 with a Type-C connector and will be available in Gold, Blue, Black, and White.
The Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe is the flagship-tier smartphone for Asus’s fall lineup, but it’s only priced at $499. The phone comes with a “full metal body with an invisible antenna design,” a 5.7-inch 1080p AMOLED display, Snapdragon 820 SoC, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, microSD card slot (up to 25gGB), a 23MP Sony IMX318 main camera, 8MP front-facing camera, 3000mAh battery, Quick Charge 3.0, USB 3.0 with Type-C connector and will be available in Gold, Silver, and Grey.
Last but not least is the Asus ZenFone 3 Ultra and its massive 6.8-inch 1080p LCD display. We’re not sure if Asus got the memo, but that last we checked, Android devices with a display this large are generally categorized as tablets. Priced at $479 the phone will feature a Snapdragon 625 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB, microSD card slot, 23MP Sony IMX318 main camera, 8MP front-facing camera, 4600mAh battery, USB 3.0 with Type-C connector and will be offered in Grey, Silver, and Pink.
There’s no indication that any US service providers will be picking up any of the new Asus phones in the coming months. The three devices will certainly be making their way to Europe and Asia, but you should be able to pick one up from your importer of choice one the devices officially hit the market.
Do you think Asus will continue to grow its smartphone business with devices like the ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Deluxe and ZenFone 3 Ultra?
