When we pick up our new Android devices for the first, we are usually greeted by an interface that was created by the manufacturer, with icons that look goofy or odd. Of course, it’s still Android, but these custom UI’s are part of what makes each device unique.
Huawei is one of those manufacturers that has a custom UI overlay on their devices, known as EmotionUI. Currently, the UI sits at version 4.1, but a new report states that the company is working on an update that will bring EmotionUI up to version 5.0.
The report also states the update to version 5.0 will make EmotionUI look more like stock Android, with some hints of flair from Huawei. This is something we’ve already seen Samsung do with its ‘Good Lock’ app on its flagship devices, but that still requires users to install something else. Regardless, it’s great to see various manufacturers work towards creating a more uniform look across all Android devices.
We are expecting to see this large update come to Huawei devices in Q3 of 2016, which will more than likely launch alongside a new device.
