Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, falls victim to Twitter hack

It’s becoming easier for hackers to gain access to our various accounts. We’ve seen Twitter hacked multiple times, Gmail accounts compromised, and now we’re seeing an influx of popular Twitter accounts hacked. The latest victim was Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, who saw his Twitter account hijacked by the OurMine team.

For some background, it seems that OurMine isn’t doing anything malicious to these accounts, instead, just providing proof of the hacks. The OurMine webpage promises to test your accounts security for a modest $99 fee which scans your various social media accounts and finds vulnerabilities.

The three-man team was able to gain access to Pichai’s Twitter account through Quora, a popular Q&A website. It’s not known how the OurMine team was able to gain access to Pichai’s Twitter through Quora, but the hackers did claim to submit the workaround to the Quora team, but haven’t heard back yet.

OurMine seems to been having some “fun” by hacking various Twitter accounts ranging from actor Channing Tatum to Spotify CEO Daniel Ek. The team has set up a “News” page, which shows the proof of a successful hack after completed.

This is a perfect reminder to reset your passwords and set up two-factor authentication (2FA) on your accounts.
