We’ve seen some rumblings about a new budget device that includes a bit of a twist coming from Samsung. The Galaxy J2 (2016) was unveiled earlier today and includes specs that you would expect for a low-range device, but the big story here is the inclusion of the Smart Glow notification ring.
Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) Specs:
- Display: 5-inch Super AMOLED
- Processor: Spreadtrum SC8830 quad-core 1.5GHz
- RAM: 1.5GB
- Storage: 8GB expandable with microSD
- Camera: 8MP rear-facing/5MP front-facing
- Battery: 2,600mAh
- Software: Android Marshmallow
Last month, we saw the first mention of Samsung’s attempt to change how users view notifications with the Smart Glow notification ring, but weren’t 100% sure when this would be coming to fruition. Now that the Galaxy J2 (2016) has been released, we get a chance to see how it works and how Samsung hopes to change the way we view notifications.
While up to four alerts can be set, consumers can create and choose their own color for the Smart Glow. It also alerts a user if they are running low on battery, internal memory, or mobile data. Users can also use the Smart Glow LED ring to position the rear camera for higher mega-pixel selfies with the Selfie Assist feature.
The Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) will be available to those in India next week for Rs. 9,750 (~$145).
