How to stream PS4 games with Remote Play on any Android device (no root)
We’ve already shown you how you can connect your PS4 controller to your Android device via Bluetooth, but this tutorial will walk you through how you can get the PS4 Remote Play app to work on any Android device. The application that’s made available from Sony only works on a select number of Sony devices, but there’s a modified version of the app on XDA-Developers which allows any Android device running Android 4.0 or higher to tap into the PS4’s Remote Play functionality.
Step-by-step instructions
- On your Android device, go to Settings > Security and turn on Unknown Sources
- Visit XDA-Developers and download the modified PS4 Remote Play app
- When the download finishes, go to Downloads on your device and tap the Remote Play apk file
- Follow the on-screen instruction to install the app
- Turn on your PS4
- Open the Remote Play and tap Next
- Log into you PSN account
- The application will then connect to your PS4
Once the connection is made, you’ll see the content from your PS4 on your Android device with a virtual controller below it. If you rotate your device to landscape mode, the PS4 content will rotate and fill the display with the controls overlayed on top. While the PS4 Remote Play feature works perfectly find, it can be a bit slow and laggy at times if your WiFi network is bogged down. For best performance, we recommend that your PS4 is wired into your router. There is also the option to reduce the stream resolution in the PS4 Remote Play app on your Android device.
