The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has essentially been a bust. Initial reviews were very good, but the global recall has put a huge damper on things. Samsung will reportedly lose over $1 billion when all is said and done. The best way to change the story may be to release a new phone. The Samsung Galaxy S8 wouldn’t normally launch until the Spring of 2017, but analysts are predicting an early launch.
Traditionally, the new Galaxy S gets announced at MWC at the end of February and launches shortly thereafter. Some analysts believe that Samsung will accelerate the launch and aim for early next year. This could change the conversation and give people a new, better Samsung device to talk about. The codenames for the S8 devices are Dream and Dream2. Doesn’t that say “forget about the past and use these dreamy phones?”
Do you think Samsung can launch the Galaxy S8 early and recover from all the bad Note 7 press? Or would launching a new Galaxy S so quickly just anger Galaxy S7 users?
