Flashing GApps — short for Google Apps — can be a pain. It’s a necessity, though, because you won’t be able to access Google services such as the Google Play Store when you flash certain custom ROMs otherwise. It can also be a pain to update those apps whenever new goods are made available.
Thankfully, the Open GApps website — currently the best source for GApps packages — is making it really easy to do that. They’ve released a new Android app that’ll help you find and flash the GApps you need right on your device.
The app can detect your architecture, DPI and Android version to give you the exact packages you need. If you’re rooted (which most people needing this app probably are), you can even have the app install the packages in recovery without having to do much of anything on your part.
The Open GApps app is totally free to download and use, so long as you don’t mind a startup ad. And for those who want to offer even more support, donation links are available inside the app (or over at their website). Be sure to give it a whirl and see if it can’t help cut some significant time off your routine updates and maintenance.
